Hey Nic, How about putting in some of your r34 pics - that was my initial choice due to the price and a big waiting maintenance bill (eg. a friend blew a cylinder, he had to replace all 6, not the usual 4) - I couldn't afford that sort of thing. Still my dream car that one. The r35 is the utlimate and way outa my league so I don't even go there.

Just passed in a check to car dealer for my '04 registered recond s15 spec r. Never owned a car like this before, had to sell off my Mitsui Lancer VIII (not evo lah), great family car - much space for whole family, lower mthly instalments. Now this s15 will take a big chunk out of my pay check and have no idea maint cost awaits me.
btw... is there such a vesion as s15 spec r nismo?

I'm driving an s15 specS. Even stock standard, it surprisingly gives a pretty smooth acceleration compared to R33 skyline. Only think I'm concerned is that you can easily lose the tail of this car... Many drivers did probably that's why it's a drift car ;)

Dear Paul, there were three models of the S15 Silvia Nissan offered. First is the Spec-S model, the second one, the Spec-R (like the one inside this blog site) and the third one, the Varietta. Last time I heard (If I was not wrong), the Varietta model has no turbo and no rear spoiler.

Silvia. Nice name for a car like that. One of the drift cars you'll find at D1GP.
I don't know what to say, but this S15 Slivia looks SEXY and FEMININE (like what Paul Tan said).

Ohhh, the Lexus GS with the 300hp ULEV engine is a pleasure to drive!! Very smooth, great acceleration when you stomp on the pedal, and quite pampered/luxurious in the cabin as well. It's a 4 door too. But a BMW 330 has tighter steering (can really feel it in the stiffer steering which gives more road feedback), better brakes and probably gets more chicks.. (Lexus GS doesn't look as good).

Just noticed, interesting parentage you have. you should post more often too! I like your posts.

The strictest emissions in the world are actually in the state of California, USA. One reason why they delated the super popular Lotus Elise from Europe to the US was because the European engine couldn't meet emission requirements! Instead, the Lotus Elises now destined for the US uses Toyota (Japanese) Celica 1.8 litre engines, which do meet the requirements. Japanese engines are one of the most emissions-controlled in the world, and Lexus and Honda petrol engines are certified ULEV (Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle), whereas there is no single European engine that meets that.. By the way, the Audi S4 was chipped. Anyway, chipping and intake/exhaust releases top-end (high rpm) horsepower, but not necessarily make it rev faster. I'm not sure, but I believe it's the mass of the pistons, other engine componentry, and the drive mechanism (transmission) that makes it rev faster because of lower inertia (lighter).

Well, what I think is European makes adhere to very strict emission controls which is what subdues the spirit of the engine a bit. Some tweaks here and there to the ECU and the intake/exhaust system should release the beast.

Really nice car.. I have a collection of S15 pics on my comp too. I used to own a Prelude (in the States, where cars are cheaper), and looking again at the specs you listed here makes me even more impressed.

The Prelude was a 2.2 (vs 2.0 for the S15), made 195 HP, but the torque of 200+ lb/ft of the S15 really rocks the Prelude's torque of maybe 110 or so. (since as you know turbo cars have really good torque, and at low RPMs too).

Psst.. I made a site on my friend's cars when I was in college (I'm older now). It's not a professional site, but if you're into cars, here it is: 151boost.com

I drove a friend's M5 too. Amazing grunt, but somehow German engines can't rev as well and fun as Japanese engines. A friend who drove an Audi S4 (2.7 litre, V6 twin turbo) was really surprised when he stepped on the gas in my ex-Prelude, and the revs climbed much faster than his motor.
