Proton Savvy Launch on the 8th of June

The Proton Savvy is set to launch on the 8th of June 2005. I will keep you guys updated if I find anymore information about the car.

BTW, one of the main marketing point that Proton is making for the Savvy is TUV certification. The TUV Rheinland Group is an indpendant product testing and certification body mainly to do with safety. Supposedly this will guarantee some form of quality and safety in the final product. Proton is trying to remove the bad karma surrounding their quality control issues. I wonder if the Proton Savvy’s power windows are TUV certified? ;)

I begin to sweat for the TUV certification. Their reputation is hanging in the air.

And we cannot be wrong to accuse Proton of having double standards. I would suggest that the car they sent to TUV is a UK/Europe made Proton. (Or should I say UK/Europe spec?) If the TUV people were to come and have a look at MY(Malaysian) spec, maybe they will just retract their certification on the spot!

I am not holding any grudge against Proton, I am just telling the truth. One of my family members having nightmares with the alarm of a new Proton. Alarm triggers without any provocation, been back to the factory for more than half-dozen times, and yet they have not been able to solve the problem. Read elsewhere that Proton was No.2 in after-sales service and maintenance…in UK?

Just hope for the best ler…my parents alrdy show interest in the car. I heard the TUV certificate were given to the factory itself not by sending a car to be certified. But yeah, just wait and see…i read about the bad quality all over th place but all Proton owners in my family have no problem with their purchase. The beauty of mass production, I presume?

Model ini tidak begitu cantik.Saya amat kecewa dgn

iklan yang diwawarkan suluruh Malaysia.KERANA bentuk

yg tidak jauh beza dgn Gen2 dibahagian hadapan.Dan

potong yg terlalu bulat dibelakang sehingga menyakitkan

kepala orng dibelakang.Ini yg berlaku di Gen2 dan

diulangi lagi di Savvy!!!!.Tidak setanding dgn Myvi.

Harap maaf saya tidak akan beli Savvy.

  • Proton is trying hard to change its image from cheap carmaker into stylish and quality carmaker since it change the tagline to 'daring to change'. But their reputation has been tarnished since 15 years ago and people still can remember what it feels to own a proton. Moreover, after protected by the government the still cannot manage to make production economical. The ratio for quality to price of proton is way behind other marques. Well, for proton designers, the 'patched' approached in designing cars cannot do much for proton because people will relate it to other car such as Gen-2, the mazda's grill, the MG's headlamp, Rio's tailgate, Merc's body sillouhette, etc. The SRM and Savvy, with MINI Coopers' centre exhaust. Afterall, yesterday I watch a Hong Kong series, Savvy shares the same headlamp with a Mercerdes firengine. :)Hope Proton doing much in improving sales overseas, thus makin money from outthere and not on ly from Malaysian. This is what we all waiting for. Daring to change?

TUV should do random checks on protons on the road. But only the ones which haven't been modified too drastically though. Or better still, let the TUV guys use some protons for a few years…make that two!

myvi or savvy…… ???? hmmmm…… in term or quality i will choose myvi… sorry savvy.. he he he …. i don't judge car by it looks… how it perform is important … there nothing to be proud about proton anyway, always back up by the goverment

there no technology in proton anyway …. always sell lotus name to gets it attention … but the quality are teruk …. but i hope proton will improve its quality in time to come …. savvy is nice to looks at….

maybe myvi1.3 better in it's class since prototyping from toyota passo(wald for sport version) and daihatsu boon but do not underestimste the Savvy as wellon performance.

Dont know why do i hate to see the interior design of Proton lately(Gen 2 and Savvy)

beli Myvi macam beli cost-down Daihatsu Boon aje.

try to test drive both models and make your decision.

pembetulan sikit yee, myvi tue asalnyee Boon…just rebadge then dah panggil kereta buatan msia…at least proton come out with their own product…my parents and brother semua pakai kereta proton tapi takderlaaa pulak problemnyeee..sikit2 tue biasalaa..even honda crv pun ada problem..one more thing, it's not fair tue kutuk2 proton, you all semua dah test drive kee savvy and myvi.?? Experience yourself then baru adil utk judge..tgk performance dulu…myvi i tgk nak pegang lebih2 kat showroom pun tak boleh…kena sound..asal ye?? takut ada part terkelaur ke??kalau kita tak support kereta sendiri saper lagi nak support?? contohilah org2 jepun dan korea yg support kereta buatan sendiri…kita org msia ni terlalu banggakan benda luar negara…

angel.. the perodua didn't just "rebadge" the boon model and renamed it myvi here. The 3 cars: Perodua MyVi, Daihatsu Boon/Sirion, & Toyota Passo all came from the same "family". These 3 groups all sat down & came up with the ideas on how the car will look like, but just that each car will have some slight differences from each other, e.g. name, interior, exterior. But the overall look will be the same. Next time go & do your homework before saying somebody just copied other people's work.

I think you guys really got problem, you know why

coz none of you talks about the price, Its damn expensive. You see,at present moment even the the KIA citra cost about Rm76K with seven seater some more, this is with forking four seaters and its cost about RM43k, i rather buy KIA,You said malaysia car is cheap, fork the malaysia car price

    Yeah!

Proton cars are so expensive. I'd rather buy a Korean car which costs a bit more but has good quality. The cheapest Savvy cost about RM40K+ and it has no power windows and alarm. Nonsense!

    The plastics look cheap.

“Should the government protect Proton from foreign competition?”

more than 65% respondence agree to “No protection please. Proton needs to compete globally or sink ”

Having to raise my children, I know we to let them learn by themselves.

Our son Proton is now 30 years old, still studying in the University, and when there was a big bully push him around, father have to make a trip to the school to inform the teacher , and look for the bully.

Poor old father is now 65+ and one will imagine how long will father still need to do this.

Our son Proton graduated and started working is a big firm, at now age 40, married and have child of his own, his manager scolded our son proton and make him do the report again, poor old father, now at age 75+, DO YOU THINK HE NEED TO GO TO THE OFFICE TO SCOLD THE MANAGER.

    GROW UP PROTON

i say proton is ridiculous! wat built in tanjung malim, wat jet fighter element, wat 3 times tougher than wira.. all these are ridiculous!

well, as far as i know, this car is using one of the renault's lousiest engine. i wonder this car can last for how long…

oh ya.. the design! everything is ok.. UNTIL i saw the rear.. SUCKS! it juz looks like a very very low standard car, seems like it is just only available in poor countries.. very ugly looking on the rear! no matter wat R3 or watever lah, i think its a shame for proton to produce this car..

the previous gen-2 is also the same! it has a not bad design, BUT the space is too disappointed! i wonder how tall guys can squeeze themselves in the rear seats..

no matter wat car proton produce, they are juz disppointing us.. its been a damn long time since proton is born, till now there is still no improvement.. tats a shame for the malaysian car industry and for malaysia too!

even the younger perodua can produce a MYVI which is far more better than the savvy.. among the two cars, surely i support the MYVI coz it has good design and performance and oso.. comfort!

when will proton produce a better car (good looks, good performance, long lasting, compact and versatile)? i don think proton can do tat.. :P
