Federation of Vegetable Sellers Associations adviser Datuk Yeoh Chip Tong said this was because fuel costs influenced the price of vegetables, as diesel was used to power farm machines and used by lorries to transport goods. “At most, the recent increase in fuel prices will only push up prices by between 3% and 5%,” said Yeoh, who is also Penang Vegetable Wholesalers Association chairman. The International Trade and Industry Minister was supposed to attend the meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, as the Prime Minister was on leave and had gone to Los Angeles to see his wife. It is understood that Najib had instructed the 61-year-old politician to attend the meeting where she was also expected to brief the Cabinet on the National Car Policy, besides the AP issue.
