Scion xR

We’re already getting a sniff from what could come up from Toyota’s stake purchase in Subaru after GM let it go.

Toyota Matrix XRS

Motor Trend Magazine says Toyota might add a four-door rally-inspired car to it’s Scion marque called the Scion xR. A turbocharged engine, Subaru’s wonderful all-wheel drive. Perfect formula for an Evo-killer.

Perhaps a tuned up monster based on the Toyota Matrix? There is already a Toyota Matrix XRS model that comes with a VVTL-i 164hp engine. A Toyota Matrix XR also has 4WD options.

Or maybe a souped up Scion tC.

Motor Trend estimates it might hit our roads in 2009, that’s a pretty long wait. Of course, it’s just a forecast.

hi paul, thats an article to raise an eyebrow for me. a fan of SUVs (thought have not owned one…yet) really hope the Toyota Matrix does find its way here but will it be the same ill-fated Voltz?

Isn't Nissan Skyline's AWD more advanced? It has power distribution based on traction.

  8. Paul says:

Skyline's AWD is rear wheel only by default. It changes to AWD when needed. Subaru's AWD also distributes power based on traction, but it's all-wheel by default.

i have seen one a while back. was running pretty fast. blue metallic. front…a little cross between the altis lights and vios gril IMO, but looking like an avansa or an unser as what Swee said…definately not. its a Sports-Utility, not a people-mover. ;-)

The Toyota Matrix looks like a nice car. Too bad it's only available in America. And in Malaysia and Singapore, we only have Hyundai Matrix. Wouldn't it be interesting if more Matrixes are available here? Then again, Toyota would probably not name it Matrix if it ever brings it here.

Toyota Matrix is very much like the Wish you see on Malaysian road. Looks like it's built on a Altis platform with an option of fwd or 4wd.

Its more sporty than Wish and it was on sale since in 2002 in Canada.

If UMW assemble that in Malaysia, they would top the mpv sales here.
