Clarkson thought the car was souless and it is, just look at the thing. He wasnt testing the car by smashing it up, he just thought the car was shit and that was all the car deserved.

No lah, that was the Waja after the crash test by Euro NCAP, and it scored a miserable below average 3-star, while a slightly pricier Toyota Avensis (Similar to Camry here) scored a perfect 5-star. So which is a better buy if you want safety? It’s better to spend a little bit more, right? Sorry, in safety departments, Waja is still far behind the others, that’s the truth.

Also, you must remember what car shows are abt: it’s to educate viewers abt gud cars you shud buy, and bad cars which shud be avoided. Don’t think JC nvr bashed BMWs before, he even destroyed Porsche before for being rubbish. Bt to spice things up a little bit, they’d do all kinds of things as entertainment, so Top Gear is killing two birds with one stone. You must also remember, purists like JC always demand more from cars from each category beit supermini, hatchback, supercar, coupes, etc, so if a car like Kelisa is made half-heartedly for the sake of enriching somebody’s pocket, wouldn’t you want to condemn such stuff too?

The thing that i saw during those servicing is that, the QC test is always way out of spec of the standards. What the local guys here did was to “adjust” the instrument to produce the “right” result to pass the QC test (green), not to take action and do the real correction that they should have done, or some of them don’t even know what to do, even though they’re graduates. Some don’t even practice any SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). After I saw all this, I start to worry about local made products.

So, after I did the servicing and calibration of the instruments, the QC test result shows “red”. This kind of thing seems to happen more and more often, and worse and worse. Malaysia is going through a down trend, not improving.

I think you know what i’m trying to say here. There better to something done about this, or else, malaysian products will continue to sux.

I hv no idea getting 9 for those 2 categories of NCAP test translate to how many stars overall.

Just to inform you, the design process and crash rating of a car is more then wat u think….usually wat designers do is they have a target to achieve. Like the Neo, the target was 5 star. If follow’s the famous 7 habits from Franklin Covey, where he says in the 3rd habit….begin with an end in mind…..its a useful habit which we all shud follow. In a design process, usually wat was planned iniatlly, on paper and on sketch board wont be fully followed. This happens because some constraints present such as manufacturability, cost, material and so on. They say an engineer’s limits is always the budject. For example if there’s a component that was designed beautifully, works well on paper but in order to produce it, you need to have new manufacturing machines and dies and so on, it wont reflect good on the cost. For the Neo, P1 has spent over RM 300mil, since it was bulit from scratch. No re-using the old platform. This cost doesn’t only include the cost of producing the car alone but, also testing the car. A typical crash test might take up to a week preparation….just to crash the car in a few seconds. Due to such constraints, we have limitations in design. The Neo chasis uses high tensile steel material and it has a ‘closed loop load path’ to ensure high torsional rigidity (13300 Nm/ degree) and also optimised section design at main floor structure (platform) to ensure high bending rigidity (14000 N/mm). Actually the Neo scored almost a 4 star for the front crash test. The overall rating was 3 star
(overall including front, back, side, pole and underride crash).

Hopefully this information is sufficient to ‘enlighten’ all of you.

I think not design constrains that held back the 5-star rating dream. It’s more got to do with our local ‘cukup makan’ mentality.
I could very nearly hear the designers and engineers speaking whlist the car was being engineered.

theres no point trying to sell the car if your only selling point ‘low-price’. I mean, who is their target market here? young ppl? old ppl? even at that price, £4k, you can get a good second hand 2000 honda civic for £2k ma. again…whats the point?!

Its quite interesting to read all the comments posted here….but from my observation none of u guys really know about cars or how they are manufactured, what kind of testing they go through. All that is going on here is like an empty gong which is making hell of noise! Hope my remark doesn;t offend any party or individual. Do u guys know that Myvi is not even rated a 3 star for crash test? Eventhough wit its air bags, abs and ebd….if u dont trust me try crashing a myvi into a stationary object at 10km/h. the result is almost similar to crashing a 3 star at 40km/h. Actually to see, none of the P2 cars are crash rated…anybody wonder why? Do you guys ever knew that all P1 models (from waja) are designed aerodynamically. for instance, the satria neo has 0.35Cd, which means it has a drag coeff of 0.35 which is on par with Japenese and European sports sedans. Do you guys know that the satria neo has almost zero lift force at the front end? this gives extreme high stability during driving at high speeds thus eliminating the ‘floating’ effect. Dont trust me, try driving the neo at 180km/h. see what happens. It was tested at this this speeds along the north south highway to ensure its stability. And also all P1 model are crash tested since Waja. The Neo was designed to be a 5 star car but due to some design constraints, it manage to achive an average of 3 star (EURO NCAP – done at 64km/h). For everybody’s information there is no such thing as ‘tin milo’ used by any manufacturers. Dont just comment as though u guys have seen it. The type of metal used in car manufacturing especially for panels are sheet metals. they are made up mixture of carbon and steel and some other metals based on its grade and thickness….i dare everybody out there….try to do a car with ‘tin milo’ see what happens! there is is many other aspects that P1 is improving in which i see none of you guys are aware off. All you guys do is kutuk…kutuk and more kutuk. If kutuk with supporting facts, takper jugak….ni main kutuk jer…be a knowledgeble nation. If you guys wanna comment something, find out about it….study it…see whether its true or not. Dont just leave remarks as though u guys know everything. Tu Bodoh Sombong namanya!
