Hasadi managed to capture these shots of the Satria Replacement Model in Padang Besar, Perlis. The SRM was stuck in mud, so it could not run away from the camera! :P

why din hasadi take shots of the interior, it’s such a good time to take a few shots of the interior for us to view. we are bored wif the exterior, dun even want to waste breath toking bout it. wasted, wasted.

  9. aik said,

    December 19, 2005 @ 8:48 am

First off, front left is NOT damaged. The camo has peeled. It is after all, tape. That is, i believe what you may assume as “not decisively indicative of build quality”…

As for the SRM being a facelift, a lil (but infinitely reliable) bird has said no. It is, all new i.e. shares no parts with predecessor.

How the F&^! does a car ‘look’ fragile under all that tape, stuck in the mud? Has something resembling plastic stuck out from those 2 pics, that i didnt catch? Did it peep Milo somewhere? Gosh.

I have come to manage my own personal expectations regarding proton, and cars in general. Unless i m buying a modern-era VW or a circa late 90’s onwards Toyota, things will inevitably start going downhill (please do not bother posting “but my proton came in after !!” Lets save Paul some time). You should too:)

It is NOT going to be a god-awesome car, it is NOT going to be a 1-series (although can rival quality on a relative basis hahahaha), it is NOT going to have VW-build quality, it is NOT going to be your favourite car. But maybe, just maybe, it could be half decent.

Lets keep an open mind ey, and see/feel/touch/drive at launch.

Hey, at least the bling rims look good in the mud:)

those are not like the rims should tukar aftermarket rims laa… why kecoh2 takmau rims tu (maybe p1 will fit another rims design as add. accesories)
then… ape nie (cakap ‘peel off laa’, ‘crack front laa’, ‘front left damaged laa’, blah.. blah…) aiia… those are DUCK-TAPES… takkan itu pun tak tau…jangan jadi bolo… its just covers the exterior from spy-shots (like Hasadi do). If u wanna see less covered body, see here http://www.channel4.com/4car/gallery/spyshots-2005/P/proton/trm-srm_page_10.html. For iguanaa.. the centred exhaust tail pipe is nice what? its a latest style. Tak payah susah2 u want to modify it after u buy it and nobody will saman u becoz of changing the original exhaust spec….

(by the way, are spy shots THAT surprising. Its a forking msian car manufacturer.. what do you expect to not see it tested here?!?!? Test in timbuktu then you ll say Proton benefit foreigners by helping their economy. And let’s not even go to “eh we dont see so many civic spy shots oso..” shall we.. )

honda_driver: thanks. and good reply on the work emotions.

  22. mitsu_galant said,

bash again. and that what paul need to do = delete pointless message .

Yeah, it’s ‘works’ btw . But i think, after several delete of the post like that, they will know what they did is wrong(perhaps).
Everytime the bash out of fact = delete and delete again. They wont that again later..

Actually i already tired to see this, and i wish that paul will do as almost requested, Thanks also for the topic ‘proton bashing’.

Lets boicot the basher. But HOW? ‘Just bang them back?

    Nevermind. Wont mention iy anymore.

In my logical sense, it’s HARD TO A FR CAR STUCK IN THE MUD .
And almost car that can stuck in / on a Padang or Rumput area usually caused by 2 fact.
    1 – The Tire
    2 – Heavy Car .

so i think BOTH FACT above. So it’s denying the someone said = ‘Tin Milo?’ .

So, if the car is tin milo, the weight supposed not so heavy, and of course THE MAN can PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE MUD EASYLY.

That’s my logical thinking and analis. (at least we had a logical sense rite?) .

Hasadi thanks for the picture eventhough as the Proton employee pledge not to take more picture as he might loose his job, maybe you should referred on what Paul did.
We don’t want our sincere action turn out bad impact to other people right.
Anyway, I eagerly waiting for this model and the model should reflect the new enthusiasm in proton. Of course I don’t expect it to near perfect as Golf GTi or even Mitsu Colt. At least up market than current Satria. Expect the R&H and NVH much better than current Satria or Wira version.

It was definitely a coupe, it had a rear spoiler on already as well. I don’t recognise the proportions, and there really aren’t many Putra style coupe cars around anymore either :P

What piqued my attention was the fact that they felt it was big enough of a secret they had to cover it completely under canvas. we were not allowed to bring cameras on the trip, and yet still this much secrecy :P . Except the SRM la, they left them there in their yard plain to see. There were 3 different spoilers for the SRM as well.

i think. they learn from the past.
Do not tergesa-gesa launch like savvy .
    No need to compete.

What i do believe in next. The already tested for the something that’s might be FOR THE GOOD . I just wonder they dont care what others said about their delayed / posponed launch .

    MAYBE :
On test AMT into the car.
On test Version by version bla bla.
Maybe they want to make this one is the BEST one from Proton.
    Wish so.. (perhaps)

For those anti proton and basher.. Leave this car alone.
Until it launch.. and then, let we decide it with our PROFESSIONAL JUDGEMENT!.

I said, “Looks like a face lifted Satria” I didn’t make any more comments. Do you have a problem with my comment?

When I am expecting a SRM or Satria Replacement Model, I expect a Satria “Replacement Model”, you may not understand the concept of “Replacement”.

When WRM (Wira Replacement Model) came out, it was Gen2. You know, “Wira” vs “Gen2″, or do you need someone else to explain to you why these projects are called “Replacement Models”?

So tell me, do I have a legitimate comment when I said it merely looks like a face lifted Satria? Do you understand the concept or meaning of my comment?

So, do you have a problem with my “Stil look like a face lifted satria to me. Probably with Gen 2 face.”? Was I being unconstructive or was I being “Critical”? And puhhhhlease do me a favor and check the actual meaning of “Critical” in a dictionary before you fire back at me. It’s spelt C-R-I-T-I-C-A-L.

Merry Christmas and happy new year to all.

    quest,

u may have a point.. but the SRM may look like the old satria,

beacuse that how a 2 door hatchback would look. buy yoursefl december edition of autocar asean…n look at all the power hatches they comapred…all look the same body style…2 DOOR HATCH…….so think first bro…..

sedan, 2 door hatchback. MPV, n so many body styles have the same main theme…….just the styling diff…….my humble opnion ya…

Yes same main theme… look at BMW, all their cars look the same, 3, 5, 7 series or Mecedes? The present E class look like the previous E class.. the coming S class looks like the last S class.

My point was… simply, it looks like a face lifted Satria. That’s all I’m saying, I’m not even criticising or anything. I made a comment about my observation based on what I see in the pictures. There’s nothing unconstructive about my comment. Remember my post was a reply to GLEE who made very negative remarks about my comment. Not you two (Man and Macspeed) AND…

I disagree when it comes to Beemer. I can absolutely tell the difference between 3-5-7 series. And everytime they produce a new generation of Beemers, they change the whole concept. They create a whole new look.

The SRM should not look like a face-lifted Satria. It’s a “Replacement” model. While the SRM have simillar characteristic of a 2 door hatchback, which applies to most 2 door hatchback, it should not have that look that at 1 glance, you decide it’s a face lifted Satria. It should have that “Wow” factor, this SRM picture however, look like a slightly face lifted Satria. You can change the color, the grills, the rims, and interior, if it’s just a Satria with all those changes…then it makes no difference.

The 2 door hatchback market is extremely small to begin with, it actually makes no sense for Proton to invest in moulding for new chasis, new body parts, new interior parts, not unless it can be extremely sellable like Myvvi. So, If I’m not wrong, I think it’ll be on the same platform of Satria, just cosmetic changes.

If they can offer the “actual” CAMPRO engine that’s reliable, maybe it’ll sell. If otherwise like current Satria specs, I can imagine how many more SRM bashers this blogsite will create.

how long they need to test test and test the car, proton claim it will be launch after 6 months when the gen2 launched, until now it almost 2 years delay…I dont think their SRM design will not cope up the latest design among the global car manufacturer already when they will launch on 06 as they claimed, it will look like a old design of car already, slower step than others…

If they launced on july 03 as the 1st plan, 06 or 07 should be the facelift time for SRM already…so thats nth proud on the SRM design…

Dear all friends…. Dont be so much kutuk.. u must test it first… The car tested by JPJ to get approval.. and the result from technical dept of JPJ… ITS SUPERB… even with 1.3 power unit.. and much better with 1.6 power unit… ITS DIFFERENT with any proton model.. so for young people… its your choice…! Paul.. you must get someone to tell bout the test drive…

if this model is indeed a success later, i think what they need to do next is come up with an suv or mpv model or something… sure skyrocket again meh!!

Don’t forget ordinary people like me who likes no frills car/SRM with 13 inch steel rims, 1.3 SOHC aspirated engine. Probably SRM could have a range of engines like 1.3 SOHC, 1.3 DOCH, 1.6 SOHC, 1.6 DOHC and 1.8 DOHC.

i’ll bet tat this srm model will be a successful model..the launch was delayed so many times..and u know y??i guess tat proton found some fault in it and rectify it..and besides that, no pressure for them to launch early, unlike savvy, where it competes with Myvi(though both are in different catogories)..next, proton should focus on perdana replacement model and waja replacement model..or as said by ajip, produce a suv or mpv or juara replacement model…hahhahah

I’ll just wait for the srm to be launched.then we’ll see whether it is worth it or not.If P1 fix the quality problem, offer wider option range (engine etc) and most importantly,at an affordable price between 50k-60k,then i think it is worth it.I hope they will have a gti model like the satria gti with maybe a 2 liter engine. If possible turbocharged.Thats the car i want.

proton shld come out with mini mpv(jazz), mpv(wish) and suv(xtrail)..
why emphasis on 3 doors car? dont they see the market trend?
and also waja need a replacement..
    erk!!still long way to go…
maybe during the time proton are able to produce them..others already gone to fuel cell vehicles…

I found this and like to share the info.

“for instant , yeah … i can say that it is more towards a gen2 design, and the interior also the same … when you look at it , you will see the gen2 blood .

so far , the quality wise … improved very much . for instant , lets talk about the interior clour. i am not sure which colour they are goign to use , but for instant , the colour is either black or beige , where the beige is not usual beige , more towards the orange-ish colour beige . the colour seems to be weird , and radical , either love it or hate it .
for the interior , there are silver strips over the interior , over the dashboard , over the door panel , which gives some sight of sportyness .
about the steering wheel , it is exactly the same with the gen2 , stupid plasticy steering that doesn’t really feel nice at all . they should have been using the waja steering which is more grippy and the design is much more better .

for the dashboard material , over all. i can say , it is a step to the front . the dashboard does feel better than the gen2 , it feels more chunky and classy . the feeling is not like the gen2 plasticky , it is more rubber-ish . just like the gen2 highline model’s steering airbag cover , more rubberish .

about the seat , it does feel better . softer and … more grip than the gen2 .

i think most of us mention about the savvy glove box is much better tfora proton right ? yeah … this time , it is much more better . the glove box comes with ‘motion’ feel , erm .. i don’t know how to descibe this , when you open the glove box , it does open and it will open up slowly … just like what you expected in a toyota camry , it opens up like … freeze motion … slowly . such type of mechanism flows into the rear hatch boot , it is like the glove box , when you open it … it lift up slowly , then slowly … i must say that such features are hardly be seen on a proton , that is why i am so impressed about it .

now extend into the rear wiper , it is not like kancil or a savvy type . it is actually using somekind of … if ppl here drives bmw they will know . the wiper is just one piece , and the wiper is one type of long type . something that is not so logic for proton too .

    erm …
    nothing i can say .
oh yeah , at the same time , i am not sure there is any 1.3 model coming out . but they actually benchmark the current SRM24 1.6 model against the Satria GT-i 1.8 as comparision , and for the same time , the SRM24 GT-i model is coming out soon after the SRM24 launch .

Actually, You don’t need to be a psychic, you need track record. When your track record is so bad, you can come up with an average quality (not bad quality) people will still condemn. What they need is a quantum leap in quality AND design to silence critiques. As it stands now, admittedly, I’m not one bit impressed.

Sides, I don’t think there’s a market big enuf in 2door hatchback to justify coming out with such a model.

Hey Quest. UK got a big hatchback market. Fiestas on turbocharged Cossies are all over the place. Peeps got to know that there is such a thing as Power to Weight ratios.

I have been waiting for a new 2 door hatch. Manual of course. Am willing to dump my Waja for this….but I need details..been waiting for such a long time. Looks like I need to wait for a bodykit too. I just hope it does not (in totality) suck. I mean we kind of expect it to suck. But not suck in a big way.

Everybody has their own opinions. I think the SRM gonna impress me. Hopefully.

I used to bash Proton too, back in the old first generation Iswaras, Wiras, and Perdana days. Now it’s different, since Proton made the Campro engine, i started to like them. Despite its problems, its a damn brave and daring move for only a 20-year-old car company, to make such an engine from scratch. i don’t mind if the SRM comes in a 1.3 Campro engine, coz the 1.3 Campro is powerful enough. For your info, it generates 95hp. More powerful than Honda’s 1.5 i-DSi (88hp) found on the New City. I’m beginnig to like Proton more and more. :)
