Volkswagen presented this concept vehicle called the Volkswagen GX3 at the Los Angeles Motor Show. It was developed by the Moonraker Team and VWs Design Center in California. The result is something that looks like a cross between a car and a motorcycle.
The Volkswagen GX3 goes from 0-100kmh in 5.7 seconds and has a mileage of 5.2 litres per 100km. Very good, and up to the standards of all of Volkswagen’s previous concepts like the EcoRacer which all seem to put focus on environment friendliness as well as performance.
How does this cross between a car and a motorcycle move? The GX3 is powered by a 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engine making 125hp at 6000rpm and 152Nm of torque at 3000rpm, which is more than enough for the 570kg vehicle.
Power is transmitted to the single rear wheel through a chain drive. Gearbox is a 6-speed manual.

1 question.. Is it possible to balance heavy cornering with 1 rear wheel?
And if I didn't read wrongly.. It's powered by the rear wheel? – Strange..
But yeah, Not on Malaysian roads.. The drivers are just too.. Aihz.
If the front suspensions are not stiff enough, cornering might just topple that thing.

The GX-3 is actually more a motorcycle first then a car. So you could look at it as a safer motorcycle. BTW, this thing can corner with a G-Force of 1.25G's, equal to some of the most extreme supercars.
i don c this car will topple, but it can drift, yeah belief tat!

Cool, looks pretty stable, wouldn't worry about it toppling, would love to ride in it hehe. It isn't practical at all in Malaysia, but would make a good weekend car for those with money to burn.

Wolfgang Bernhard told journalists at the LA Car Show in California:
"If we get positive feedback on this vehicle you can see it on the streets of California soon".
Bernhard describes the US market as their "most important in the western hemisphere". VW's sales in the US fell 13% in 2005.
