evo 8 comes in 3 trimmed models too for States, Europe and Japan.

US: Standard/GSR - revised 5-speed, standard model
RS - revised 5-speed, aluminium roof, gauge pack, minimal interior
MR - 6-speed, Bilstein monotube shocks, aluminium roof, gauge pack

EU and Japan: RS - revised 5-speed, aluminium roof, gauge pack, minimal
interior, LSD and a titanium-magnesium turbine
GT - revised 5-speed, this is basically the RS mechanically,
but with some of the GSR's features (mainly interior pieces).
GSR - 6-speed, Bilstein monotube shocks, aluminium roof,
gauge pack, AYC (Active Yaw Control), and double-din radio
(this is roughly equivalent to the MR)

In this clip, JC reviewed is GSR trim while in another episode is MR trim which sports a couple of new vortex generator on top the rear window to improve aerodynamics efficiency.

For pricing of Subs and Evo, refer to The Stars Motoring issue early January 2006 edition. That issue was handy as all the pricing for cars in Malaysia was highlighted. :D happen to grab that copy frm a visiting friend frm KL.

dont forget, the WRX has many variants, whereas the EVO has 1 main variant only (usually). for RM260k, you get the evo9, 300+hp 2.0ltr mivec turbo.

subaru has the WRX, WRX Sti, and the ones that cost over 300k are the spec.C models. Standard WRC has the least power, around 240hp. but the current new models are now going to 2.5 litres.. same hp output, but more torque.
you will need at the very least, an Sti to compare directly with the EVo9.
both the evo and wrx handle well, just that the evo is harder to handle for inexperienced drivers.

if you rather buy an audi quattro, the wrx and evo is definitely not the car for you. the new audi costs RM290k, and you do not even have half of the performance of either the WRXsti, or EVO. no comparison there.

I think Impreza is closer to the 200k mark. 199k or something like that. But still cheaper than EVO.

Expensive for a car with 4wd and a turbocharged engine and nothing much else. I still prefer creature comforts. Save up and buy an Audi Quattro.

A bit outdated since we already have Evo IX now. Is Evo X out yet? In Singapore, there are many more WRXes on the roads than Evos, for 1 very simple reason: WRXes r much cheaper than Evos.

he did bash the evo8 but not in this episode but same episode as the prius v kenari v smart (Top Gear Season 2004). he bashed the evo8 turning radius which is awesomely huge, the stereos (blink blink leds annoys him), turbo lag (beat by a MPV in a straight run) n etc...

before any mitsu bashers claim this car is old tech, he did praise this car kau kau (especially how british engineers build the evo8 2.0l engine smaller than a milk bottle, LOL) when he drove the evo8 against a green lamborghini driven by a young WRC star-oops! forget his name n win! he is happy anyway swinging n swaying like a drifter while running tripod wheels on the test track. he really push the ACD to the limit.

since he can't give us a winner, maybe JC shld consult Bunta Fujiwara (GC8 v5) and Emperor's Kyouichi Sudou (evo3 GSR CE9A). LOL!
