I read somewhere else that this N54's bi-turbo is actually in a non-sequential arrangement. Each bank of 3-cylinders gets a smallish turbocharger instead of one BIG turbine or twin turbines feeding all of the 6 combustion chambers…

Feeling that the top of the line 3 liter in-line 6 and the upcoming 3 liter turbocharged in-line 6 is inadequate, they’ve somehow managed to take the Formula 1 inspired 5.0 liter V10 engine from the E60 BMW M5 and stuffed it into the E90’s engine bay, lock, stock, transmission and barrel. Not feeling satisfied with the 504 horses that it already has, it performed some extra tweaking to it. Hartge’s engineers managed to extract 550bhp, about 46 horses extra from the standard engine. Maximum torque remains at 520 Nm. [...]

Yeah, I read that one. The question is when? And if it's really happening, I do hope Proton negotiated for the latest technology. Not the 1st or 2nd generation. Too expensive? Get the parts quality right, I don't think the consumer will complain much about the price.

BMW has always been trying to produce a fast diesel engine. If I'm not mistaken, Ralf Schumacher was once caught speeding (220km/h+) by German traffic warden in his 530id and it's and Estate (wagon)! And he said BMW should pay him for the "advertisement".

Just when will we ever get to hear Campro diesel?

Considering that this engine is a petrol version and is equipped with a small and large turbocharger running sequentially, peak torque should be really good .

The E90 330I N52 B30A engine was already one of the best 6 cylinder engines money can buy. This new N54 Bi-Turbo should be very interesting.

i think this is the same technology they apply on last year 5 series diesel. they claimed this is one of the fastest diesel car in the world as i remember.
