The Kia Sorento is available locally with a Naza badge as the Naza Sorento. The mid-sized SUV is based on a ladder frame as opposed to a monocoque chassis, so this should mean the body should be able to be modified easily. Kia does have light trucks (read: lorries!) like it’s K2700/3000/4000 series, but what about a pick-up truck?
Kia could easily develop a pick-up truck using the ladder frame chassis of the Kia Sorento. Kia has developed pick-up truck concepts before, like Kia KCV4 Mojave concept shown back in 2004 at the Chicago Motor Show. That was a mid-size truck, suitable for the US market but way too huge for our local tastes. The KCV4 Mojave Concept did not go into production, but was developed to gauge customer acceptance.
I think a Kia pick-up truck based on the Sorento could be feasible, especially with the Sorento’s 2.5 CRDi turbodiesel engine. To help us visualise how it could look like, Theophilus Chin comes to the rescue again with his impression of a double-cab pick-up track based on the Kia Sorento. Heh.

nice job….
NICE PICS! Good work Theo! I think it’s not feasible to have this model in our market because the intense competition with its brother Sorento. Notice it has more booth space with the hardtop option. As u can see what has happen to other brands too. U get more ranger than the Everest and more Toyota Hilux than the Fortuner on the road!
If Naza is planning to change its strategy, it might be a good venture!
V_NoZ: that might be because the Range and Hilux are much much cheaper than it's SUV siblings due to different tax brackets.
If you take what's stock on the Sorento – 140PS, 5-Speed Automatic Shiftronic, LSD, Active Torque Transfer, Porsche-tuned suspension, 8-Speakers, Alpine CD Changer, Borg Warner Turbo, Bosch Commonrail Direct Injection, Power Drivers seat, Climate Control, Tricot headliner, Power Sliding glass sunroof, barometer/altimeter/compass, etc … this will be the highest spec doublecab pickup in Asia!!
I love the Sorento… Sorento pick ups? hope it will come true someday…
hey theo, nice photoshop again, did u see my previous feedback. this one, i think the roof rack is not necessary, its kinda too short and would be imbalanced if u want to put anything on top of it, just my 2 cents, hope thats ok
If Kia make this with wider body and put a bigger engine, say a 4 litre V8 engine, I think they could sell it well in USA.
And yes Theo. I agree with Kevin. The roof rack looks weird for a short roof like this one. Theo, did you pimp rides with Photoshop too? Just askin… =)
da car looks alot better den da chinese pick up .
Hey Kevin, no problem, all feedback can only mean the chop gathers opinion and that alone is important.
I previously did another pickup chop based on a Chrysler Limo Concept called Chrysler Imperial
original pic of Chrysler Imperial concept…

AND my chop of that limo into a MONSTER truck…

Cool! Another "civilised" pickup to hit the urban jungle…I wonder if Kia has ever thought of it… :D
Theo – do you ever or try to chop Savvy backside wide open like Wira to become "Mini Arena" or "Mini Jumbuck" (UK)! He, he, he ….. just suggestion.
theo, the chop of ur car makes u look like the holden efijy with a pick up truck body, would love to see u do miracles in the efijy though
haha… now i can imagine the 1st gen toyota HARRIER turned into a pick-up truck le…
gotta be honest… it looks cacat. clearly cut and paste stuff… certain dimensions just don't fit….
it IS cut and paste my friend, that's called photo 'chop'.
Mr Chin… i know la… it's just that this piece of work doesn't look as refined as your previous works. i really liked your photoshopped protons. this somehow doesn't give out the first impression which your previous works do. anyway, you're great with photoshop!
just like the Satria photoshop, everyone praised the photoshop even it looks too bad (the photoshop editor plz dont take it personally).. but those who praised the photoshop also will be the basher if the satria sedan will be a production model.
ya, do what toyota and nissan do.
