mitlanevo, its not the horsepower alone, those cars you mentioned (porsche, bentley, lambo's) have one crutial element that sets them apart from the Touareg and the Q7, they all have petrol engines instead of diesel. Diesel engines are designed to produce tonnes of pulling power or better knowed as torque at low revs. (thats why lorrys and busses use diesel engines). So when you put a huge diesel engine into a relatively light chassis, as i said earlier, the slightest touch of the pedal will cause the car to pounce into the car ahead. Unless you plan on towing a boat or even towing your whole house along, those extra torques will come in handy.

Here's a simple breakdown. (NM = Newtonmetres of torque)

Ferrari F430 = Max output 465NM at 5250rpm
Lamborghini Gallado = Max output 510NM at 4500rpm
BMW M5 = Max output 520NM at 6100 rpm
Porsche Turbo = Max output 620NM at 2000-5000rpm
Lamborghini Murcielago = Max output 650NM at 5400rpm

BMW 535d = Max output 560NM at 2000rpm
VW Touareg V10 TDI = Max output 750NM at 2000rpm
Audi Q7 V12 TDI = Max output 1000NM at 1750rpm

Kimmy, perhaps you are right on your point, but how about those people who drive a Porsche, Bentley or Ferrari, or even a much more powerful Lamborghini on Malaysian roads? (and just for your info, there are at least 5 Malaysians who booked the Lamborghini Murcielago and will get their keys real soon....)
So, do they really think that their cars are too powerful? Emm, maybe......

The specs may sound spectacular but I'm not so sure it will be a great car to drive. I drove a Touareg V10 TDI sometime back. The V10 Touareg was really great at only two things going really really fast on the highway and overtaking. Driving it in KL however is a different story, the car was way way too powerful. The slightest touch of the pedal and the Touareg would lunge forward as if it was a predator catching its prey, or in this case the bumper of the car in front. One more thing, the ride quality in the Touareg was simply dreadful. If you put it into the 'Sport' mode the smallest pebble on the road would break your back, put it into 'Comfort' and you would suddenly realize the whole world tilting eachtime you take a corner. I don't think the smaller Touaregs have these problem though.

I think Audi built this car as more of a technical exercise rather than making it a commercial success. Don't get me wrong though, this car will sell among the footballers wives and young rich rappers. The main idea for creating this car is to show the world what Audi is capable of developing. After all who needs 1000 NM of torque?!!..

Nice SUV, but just that the grill is not so nice....
But anyway, it is a great vehicle with awesome performance, including VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, but the Cayenne Turbo really cost a bomb, hopefully the Q7 will be cheaper....

The car may look great with the S4 bumper and all that but I wonder whether it will drive as good as a Cayenne.

I have already driven the ABT Touareg and it doesn't feel like a sporty SUV. It's just a big tyred luxury SUV and nothing else. So what if it can do 0-100km/h in 5.5 if you can't chase a Cayenne in a corner...

Mammoth. hmmm these SUVs, with their size, do we have to compactised it and placed the engine up front like all other vehicles? since they're so freakingly huge, why not 4 engines and all four corner? a miniscule 1 liter per corner is good enough since taking out all the shafts and transaxles..... ha!

yeah, it does look like they've overdone the grill portion. And also, the exhaust pipes look familiar - Hyundai Arnejs?

sorry, if the price is indeed what notorp* posted, I'm better off getting a merc ML... or something.

The whole SUV is nicely designed as usual for a VAG vehicle but unfortunately the grill is absolutely ugly. I don't mind the big mouth design but the horizontal and vertical lines in it breaks the entire look. Perhaps a de-crome look will work better here.

I am surprised the price have not shot thru the RM1million but then again the prices quoted above is not the 6L version. Still can't believe why would anyone wanna buy a 6L SUV in the first place....

So any datuks here keen in buying one?
