Heard Peugeot is not phasing out the 206, instead theyre coming out with 207 compact. According to PSA 207 isnt the successor to the 206 but 207 compact is.Yes confusing. Heard Naza will assemble the 207 compact, hope its soon ;)

firstly, its not a face lifter 206, but the all new replacement, 207. also, we are not comparing a flat runaround car with it.. 10 years ago, they were already running rally cars, 2.0ltr N/A at 265bhp in the F2 class. with very short ratio gearboxes, putting the power down isn't an issue. On the tarmac rallies in the WRC calendar, these FWD cars have beaten WRC cars and won outright as they are much lighter than the 4WD cars.

these cars are extremely reliable, and cannot be compared to the road cars at all. in case you people have forgotten, peuqeot have been WRC champions many times in WRC history.

yeah go naza go!

mouth watering la..

we'll see whether Peugeot would produce OTR 207 with engine near to this one... or at least more powerful than the 206 RC180 that had 2.0 NA engine producing 180bhp.

as far as i know, the engine they co-developed with bmw for the 207 (and next gen mini cooper) had power lower than 180bhp.

Superman is just about right. Normally DTM/ST cars are lighter than rally cars.

280hp from a 2 litre N.A. Wow, the pistons should be really high compression based on the rev limit being at 8.5k. Torque and the instant response from the N.A engine should be astonishing too.

bodbuilder,

This Pug is built to new Super 2000 regs, so no turbos. Super 2000 regs are quite different to WRC in terms of engines .

And Super Touring cars weight about lighter than Rally Cars . A ST car usually weight 1000 kg whereby an average Rally car (WRC) would weight 1200kg

Look like a facelifted 206 to me. Are their designers starting to practice Porsches' design philosophy?

Dude do not compare a flat runaround with a car meant for rally. Maybe for Spain leg, going downhill ok lah. You need to strike a balance of torque and hp when you do WRC. Simply because of varying difference in a lot of environmental conditions. Bet you those touring cars are a lot heavier than this hatch.

I don't think the WRC car is without turboes unless they want higher engine reliability. Reliability and Pugs are never mentioned in the same sentence except with a few explicit words. Those aside, and banking on aesthetics alone, looks like the french have continued their exemplary art of producing fine skirt lifters.

its a rally car built for racing la.. the only chance we'll see this car on the road, is if Malaysia can organise a round of the WRC. and its nothing new to have 280bhp from a 2.0 n/a in a race car.

The BTCC cars in the past were running 300bhp from 2.0 n/a, same goes for the Petronas team proton waja. you can still see the car racing in the malaysian super series in sepang this year.

280 bhp form a NA 2 ltr is attainable. SuperTouring Cars in the 90's were producing that kind of power too, also with a rev limit of 8500rpm.

Being a competition engine, expect all steel , crank and rods, short pistons, quad throttles, etc

Actulaly in this day where road going 4 cylinder engines can rev till 8.5k-9k rpm (Toyota 2ZZ , Honda F20C), a race spec engine with modified internals doing 8500 is not that surprising.

280hp from a 2 litre NA??? Engines like this really make American muscles sound inefficient hehe. Though the car looks a lil bit fat at the rear, it has a really aggresive stance, truly a car for rally.

Any spec on the engine? I think must be large bore and short stroke for the high rev.... Like F1 cars. Thats why such a huge power output.
