Looks like Volvo wants to be technology friendly ... like the Acura RDX. However, one thing that is keeping Volvo down is the Ford technology trickling in. The cars may look really sexy ... but reliability (especially electronics!) will be suspect. My family is on its second Volvo (first being a 1989 740 and now drivinga S70) ... difference between the first car (rock solid but drove like a tank) and now (feels solid but small things have been fixed under warranty -- power windows to name 1), as well as new squeaks and rattles ... I don't think my folks will buy another Volvo again.

But going back on topic ... quite an interesting concept. It's in line with where the C30 is heading.

Looks good. But being a Volvo owner,I wonder if the plastic and rubber items used are suitable for tropical weather. My S 60 (2001 model, mileage 85000kms) has had engine mountings and suspension bushings changed at 60,000 km.Not particularly impressed with the durability considering that volvo's were supposed to last a long time(look at some of the 122's and 144's running around). After sales service was terrible, when I complanied that the steering made noise during fast cornering and took the technician for a demo,he had the cheek to tell the supervisor that I drove too fast! The new generation volvo's since 850 T5 are very powerful and on a straight road I can even keep up with my frined's 530 (E39).But when it comes to cornering the suspension is a real letdown.

I really dig the center console thingy too, but the only problem i have bout it is, its a bit hard to distinguish the buttons during the day time.. i think.. it looks wicked at night though.. and i dont really see whats the purpose of displaying the chassis like image there.. does it serve any purpose at all? i see some yellow and white dots on it. thats all.. but yeah, i doubt they wud actually use that console panel for the real production unit. Its always like that. Only ppl who have given us bongkus interiors as concept and stuck with it are ppl from honda with the euro model civic.

Nice and fancy. Just hope the panels could withstand the weather hashness, if the concept materialised.
Shifting gears via touch panels? Don't think that's safe and ergonomic.
If you decide to shift to sport mode, under the sun's glare and etc..you would be turning on the radio rather than shifting...

Wondered if the speedometer is lcd panel too? The Merc CLS350 is lcd paneled. Kinda like ps2 display..

waaah.... oh-so-bangle'ish.....

how much of it stays... i'd say most of the stuff except the flashy add-ons like d bumbers, rims, and the "glossy" interior... d rest shld be intact seeing as how the C30 is so close to the concept.....

Wau....this really makes me throw away all the negative/oldish look of volvo perception!!! In fact me started to think XC90 already lookable, but until this XC60 that really makes me think differently.

Cool SUV i must say, hopely when it comes to msia, i will be able to afford to get one. OK now, where is my bigsweep :-)
