probably a feasibility study to see if rebranding this car to Nissan Sentra will make better sales than the "aesthetically challenged" altea . :P

Guys,
do you think Renault would want to spent money and efforts testing its yet to be launched car in the market where it can hardly sell a single unit? Malaysia and South East Asia are traditionally not a market for 2L (and above) Renault cars.

Laguna II got 2L variant, so I suppose Laguna III will also have a 2L variant. But worldwide, sales of Laguna II has not been good, even in France itself. So it make sense to share the new platform with other car manufacturer to reduce development cost.

If Renault is indeed testing Laguna III here, I was wondering why they use ETCM facility at Segambut. ETCM is just their authorised distributor here and yet they trust ETCM to keep their yet to be launched model?

If its really made to replace Perdana, then how come it ended(as always) at ETCM instead of P1 City .... ?

So, i might think Renault want to have a piece of cake from others(Volvo, SAAB, Pugs, Citroen, VW & etc...) conti makes...

But i think in Bolehland a 3.5L its not very attractive though... as petrol is getting more and more expensive, so a diesel variant(a torquey ones) would be welcome as Renault have nice diesel engine offered in their natives..

The new model right? but this is gonna not give the motoring impact for local industry. I dont know why our people doesnt like Renault. Because it's French's car? hard to maintain? expensive sparepart? The last passenger car which good sales before was RT19. Now, it just the Kangoo playing around carrying goods. The Renault Clio Sport is very good enough to be rival for Jazz, Swift, bla..bla..
Yes, they win the F1 courses, but they don't on the legal road.
Drive Laguna to Sunway Lagoon..

As SatriaGuy said, why test Laguna here? Could there be a secret project between proton and renault to produce perdana replacement model based on Laguna III? I myself has seen this car covered as in the spyshot being driven on the PLUS highway, heading to Ipoh.

Proton has already been buying engines from renault for savvy, and earlier for Waja 1.8. It is widely known that proton has been looking for a platform for its new perdana, which is supposed to be launched this year. Talks with Mitsubishi on the possibility of using its Mitsu 380 platform was not fruitful. Earlier proton was talking to VW about the possibility of using its old Passat platform, but it ended nowhere.

So....is the new Laguna III will also have a Proton sibling?
