Honda adds Honda Accord 2.0 VTi-S to line-up

Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has added a new variant to it’s Honda Accord line – the Honda Accord 2.0 VTi-S. Positioned between the existing 2.0 and 2.4 litre, the Honda Accord 2.0 VTi-S adds leather seats, leather steering, leather shift knob, dual zone automatic climate control system, 6 CD premium audio system, and an 8-way powered driver seat. This is a welcome addition to the line-up, as some would prefer to have leather seats and other creature comforts without the larger 2.4 litre engine of the Accord 2.4, which was previously the only Accord model with leather seats and the other mentioned options. Toyota’s new Camry already offers a three model line-up: a low spec 2.0, a high spec 2.0 and a high spec 2.4.

“We are pleased to launch the enhanced version of the Accord VTi-S. Honda believes in creating products that are of the highest quality yet at a reasonable price to our customers. The Accord VTi-S is synonymous with our high quality standards and provides affordable luxury to our customers. Honda aims to create more choices to fulfill our customers needs in line with our commitment to delivering new and value added products to our customers. Since its launch in the year 2003, the Accord has been well received by Honda customers for its exterior, interior and performance. Hence, this Accord 2.0 VTi-S is created for Hondas customers to offer additional features that can fulfill their need for maximized comfort,” said Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Yasuhide Mizuno.

I thought with the trend now (looking at the bad economy situation and petrol increase), car makers should instead offer more economy solution like:

    1. Accord with 1.8 engine (using Civic 1.8 engine)

    2. Civic with 1.6 engine (Spore Honda has such offering)

I'm surprised and happy that Honda can respond very quickly to Toyota, literally updating their lineup within months of Toyota's release of the new 2007 Camry. Kudos to Honda Malaysia. I guess that's what you get when you have direct connections to the parent company in Japan.

i dont think the 1.8L civic engine is refined enough for the accord, and it cant help in the fuel economy part either, big car+small engine=bad fuel consumption.

Well, that's a nice addition to Accord's line-up. I haven't seen it yet but are you sure the interior is in beige? Like mattyboy said, I too hope that the interior could be in sporty black.

Dual climate control meaning you get aircond vents for the rear passengers?

A 1.8 engine for the accord will be underpowered and fuel economy will be worse. I used to have a 1995 accord 2.2 which had better mileage than my frined's accord 2.0 same model. Many people forget that the accord is a very large car. It is as big as an E class merc.I can't seem to make myself like the rear lights though.

If this model is sporty black interior, then will give Mazda6 a great fight…

Thumbs up for this line-up with the dual zone automatic climate control system, and an 8-way powered driver seat.
