BMW Alpina B7 based on BMW 7-series

BMW Alpina B7 based on BMW 7-series

BMW is bringing in the BMW Alpina B7 into the US market, with the model set to be on show during the 2007 Chicago Motor Show this month. Alpina, an official BMW tuner, has taken the BMW 7-Series and fitted it with BMW’s 4.4 litre V8 engine. Of course, it wouldn’t do justice leaving the engine stock, so Alpina tweaked it with a supercharger, resulting in a monster V8 that makes 500hp at 5,500rpm, and 700Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. Horsepower matches the new E60 M5’s 5.0 litre V10 but kicks in at a much lower rpm, and the force blown motor beats the E60 M5’s torque figures by 120Nm. Clad in a nice trademark Alpina blue, the big luxury saloon goes from 0-100km/h in only 4.8 seconds, only a fraction slower than the E60 M5’s 4.7 seconds.

Of course, to match the sweet engine, you get Alpina sport-tuned suspension with Active Roll Stabilization, an aerodynamically designed bodykit to help with high speed handling as well as huge 21 inch wheels with Z-rated speed performance tyres.

I can almost see the rich oils sheiks trying to drift in one of these, then crash it, come out laughing and just get into another one.

Not nearly as mad as what Brabus has done with the CLS Rocket (that is the real name of the car) or what Hartge done with their 3 series and 5.

But the big difference is that Alpina is known for their intergrity in modification and the thoroughness. That's why they have BMW's official nod.

The problem is that this is such a niche product it's hard to imagine who would buy this but maybe only Sheikhs are the only targeted audience. Hopefully no Ronan Keating (he got a Z8 Alpina years ago and iit didn't sell well).

half a mil? this baby could easily soar past the 7 digit mark..

though i would have appealed to it a lil better if it came lowered a lil.. the 7 series in all it's performance enriched goodness is still a luxury vehicle.. and it'll look even more stylish with a lil less height IMHO. hehe..

but still, great piece of mechanical engineering. *thumbsup*

This is a nice 7-Series indeed, but if I got the cash for this, I will paint it with metallic black or gold because dark blue is not my style.

The 21 inch wheels are alright, but I prefer those wheels with some bling bling elements and can spin even when the car is stationary. (like those rappers' car in USA). The in-car entertainment should include a few LCD screens, DVD player, game console (any PS3?) and great audio system.

And last but not least, the glass should be black colour tinted……

pretty interesting, but personally, i feel its not menacing enuff for a B7 Alpina….

    needs more masculine outlook….
