One of the first of the exciting new car launches this year is coming soon. Honda Malaysia has started running a teaser campaign on it’s website for the new 2007 Honda CR-V. It states the new SUV will be unveiled to the public on the 8th of March 2007, 3 weeks more on a Thursday!
Teaser images on the site have confirmed that our Malaysian market third generation 2007 Honda CR-V will use the new R-series 2.0 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine – the R20A. The single cam engine’s torque curve is more suitable to lugging around the Honda CR-V’s weight than the K-series motor from the second generation Honda CR-V. In the worldwide market, the 2.0 litre models use the R-series engines, while the 2.4 litre with bigger low end grant due to it’s larger displacement still uses the K-series engine, as it’s not very likely to see R-series engines with higher displacements than 2.0 litres due to it’s already very long stroke design.
With the imminent move to Euro II standards for fuel in Malaysia, resulting in lower sulphur in diesel, could we possibly see a turbodiesel variant featuring the award winning 2.2 litre i-CTDi turbodiesel variant? Could be a smart move by Honda if done, look at the amount of people purchasing diesel pick-ups and Ssangyong Rextons.

ooo… cool! but a SOHC for CRV? hmm… how bout the previous CRVs??? all using SOHC ah???
The K-series is DOHC. In my opinion, the new R-series SOHC with drive by wire is more suitable. Honda made a good call.
Not surprise…because the next gen HONDA engine would be A-VTEC and from the rumors it is SOHC engine…

Any idea of the new CRV price without insurance ? Can it be 135K ?
Paul,
Is there such a thing as a Diesel powered 3rd-Gen CRV anywhere in the world?
of course got. european market 2 models: petrol 2.0 ivtec or turbodiesel 2.2 ictdi.
is the current civic 2.0s using the R-series engine? not stated in honda m'sia site..
i duno why honda messed d front la.. so dissappointing… esp since the stream looks gorgeous….
neone realised? stream lost that back arched-glass thingy, and now the CRV's got it… lol
well tHe_CuLpRit, i think at first looks, the CRV indeed looks ugly. But i'm sure people will appreciate and accept the design after a while.
yea ler… true aso, ike most 'controversial' designs, it tends to grow on you..
and frm d looks of it, i think its pretty good too… cos i read the Autocar review and they kinda liked it. go to http://www.autocar.co.uk/ and find under test drives

haloo..i think model 2003 is better than 2007…am i right!!!!
dis will beat the rav4 here…trust me..
i have seen the real thing, it just parked in one of the parking lot in my condo, sing plate of course… when i look at it on the computer screen, it looks ugly… however when u look at the real thing, it looks nice la…. it looks much lower then the current CRV, and with the projector headlights, it looks abit like harrier too.. overall it looks prety nice la, not sure about the new engine though….
yeah the front looks weird at first, but gradually u'll be saying the other way around. white looks overwhelmingly suitable for exterior. inside, totally different from current crv. it's like driving a d-segment, but with the additional power & solid body. if i got 170k, i may dump it all in this one.
I own a 2007 CRV. It was my best car, ever until today.
I fell as I was going out of the car. How? Some ladies in Malaysia wear long dresses; what we call “baju kurung”, a 2 piece really, with top and bottom. The bottom, more like a long skirt, got entangled at the part underneath the driver’s seat. If you look under the seat, the bottom part of the seat is not completely oblong in shape. In the center, facing the pedals, it was opened to house the lever to control the location of the seat, leaving a protruding element hooking my skirt. I incur injury to my foot, elbows and the side of my thigh. I am seriously considering raising a police report so that I can put up a case against HONDA for bad design.
