hybrid cars are taxed according to the exact displacement of the petrol engine it has. Its got nothing to do with the govt whether we will see hybrid cars here or not. "myth busted".

lets say if honda sells the civic at RM115-122,000, and then the a hybrid civic at RM150,000 which would you buy?? basically, the reason why there are no hybrids in malaysia is due to the cost..

but if you do want a hybrid, NGV conversions are available today from local companies.. and NGV are also less polluting than hybrids in the long run. plus you dont have the worry of recycling, or disposing of the battery..etc. NGV cars are also dual fuel, meaning petrol and gas, so you at least have an alternative.

i always wondered when would hybrids be available here.. is it that there is some sort of cap on bringing hybrid cars into msia, or is that there is no demand strong enough to bring these hybrid vehicles into msia? someone once told me is that the reason why we don't get it here, is that the government doesnt know how to tax hybrid vehicles.. don't know if its true..
