Details of the long awaited John Cooper Works (JCW) Tuning Kit for the new 2nd generation (R56) MINI Cooper S have finally been unveiled. The 175 horsepower turbocharged 1.6 litre engine now has it’s power bumped up to 192 horsepower, with maximum torque now at 250Nm between 1,750rpm and 5,000rpm, with the overboost function giving another 20Nm for a maximum of 270Nm from 1,750rpm to 4,500rpm.
Despite the Cooper S already sounding pretty exciting to begin with, the JCW Kit also includes a sports exhaust system, a performance air filter as well as updated ECU firmware. A JCW Sports Suspension reduces ground clearance by 10mm. Of course, an aerodynamically optimized bodykit is also in the package, with front, side and rear skirting as well as 18 inch light alloy wheels. Braking power is enhanced via perforated brake discs.
