Mazda will be developing a new crossover CUV called the Mazda CX-5 based on the recent Mazda Hakaze Concept. Mazda says the CX-5 will be engineered to provide the fun driving experience of an MX-5 combined with the practicality of the CX-7 SUV. It will be a targa, which means roof panels are removable to create a semi-open top cabin. The 5-door small SUV will also have it’s rear doors installed RX-8 suicide-style.

Who is target for?
this competes with the freelander
and the Sportage, Tucson, CRV, Rav4, its own Mazda 5 and Mazda 3 hatchback, and a bit of stretch, the Murano…….
yeah. freelander was the most obvious example because of the likeliness to use the same platform.
Nice CUV!
Reminds me of the 1st generation RAV4. Very sporty looking, unlike most of today's SUV that loses its sporty look.
BTW, Nice Smiley face
Donno bout the performance yet, but lookwise, it's already defeated the Freelander. Hope Mazda will develop the Kabura or Nagare concept too, both look sweet, especially the doors.
Mazda CX-5 would be replaced the current Mazda Tribute, I think Mazda will launch it by late 2008.
Zoom Zoom…
