The whole point of convertible, (I'll start sticking convertible to hard top, and soft top for cabriolet, as hard tops convert them into something else) is to not let anyone notice it's actually a hard top. So why do they bother to have a coupe, and a convertible? Perhaps to let buyers have a choice of showing off, so that suggests Munich design something to allow people to show off, and it's their M, which is highly regarded as a very respected track biased road car. And now this track bias road car had a convertible that weighs a few hundred kilos heavier, and a boot filled with mechanical arms. I'd rather BMW had a 340Ci which is a convertible and Sedan, and leave M3 with Coupe ONLY. Two door cars had a much higher torsional rigidity than any other form (provided it's no door or 1 door) I don't get it, or perhaps BMW don't get it.
