Toyota has updated it’s Toyota Allion mid-sized sedan for the Japanese Domestic Market. By JDM, it means it is a car that most likely won’t be seen anywhere outside Japan, unless someone wealthy brings it in at an expensive price so that he can drive a different car. But Toyota really does have some really cool-looking JDM-only cars. Another example of a JDM-only Toyota is the Toyota Will VS. You could consider the Toyota Allion as the Toyota Avensis’ Japanese sibling, as they all use the same platform and share alot of components.
The new Toyota Allion looks less upmarket than the model it replaces. It’s available with either a 109 horsepower 1NZ-FE 1.5 litre or a 136 horsepower 2ZR-FE 1.8 litre engine, and comes in 2WD and 4WD configurations. The most fuel efficient Toyota Allion can go 18 km per litre of fuel, while the least fuel economical version goes 14.4km per litre. Both engines are mated to Super CVT-i transmissions, including the 4WD variants.
The interior is pretty much basic, however there is an Engine Start/Stop button which should prove to be a favourite with gadget-loving Japanese. A gated shifter also adds a stylish touch. You have a few trims to pick from, a red wood, a lighter wood, and etc. No silver aluminium-ish trim in sight though. Many storage compartments – one in the door panel, one between the two front seats in the center console,
The Toyota Allion has a twin brother, one styled more aggressively but is essentially the same car. This other model is called the Toyota Premio, and I will be covering it in the next blog post. These two new models are part of Toyota’s efforts to stop the B-segment sedan market from shrinking further, already it is bad enough that it is not growing. More and more Japanese are more interested in 660cc A-segment cars instead. Toyota is targeting monthly sales of 3,000 units for each model. In the meanwhile, check out more shots of the Allion after the jump.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
so this car is essentially "smaller" than the corolla? and if its based on Avensis, shouldn't it be bigger, cos if im not wrong, in UK the Avensis is a larger model than Corolla?
It is not a smaller version than the corolla. It is in between the camry and the corolla.
This car is better than the corolla and is bigger in size. It is also more expensive than the corolla.
the side profile is so flat….very weird..the front is dominated by the grill,which resembles the new susuki vitara a bit…
VIOS's bigger brother..
The rear designh looks like Sentral
Besides that, it looks good
not bad…..the front looks like a transformers robot…hehehe….just have the transtormers fever…..
Wow the deployed airbags on the windows..look like clouds in old Genting Highlands : )
Sadly Msia Vios will never get 6 airbag specs per JDM
ah a mini Camry.
So when will UMW replace the aging Altis with this (or the Premio) or are they going to wait for the next North American Altis…..
What is JDM means paul ?? ….. wow this one more pretty then premio .. it is really will sell in malaysia ?? how much the price ….
Nice low cost model from TOYOTA.
JDM=Japan Domestic Market.. means that car only sell in Japan… A lot of models they sell only in japan mainly is to see how the consumer respond to the new models.. Normally if the models are hot cakes they will consider to sell out from Japan.. That why you see in others country the models of new cars are always come late then Japan..
front look a bit like LS460…well the back almost same as the new toyota camry…
like i say….its the bro of camry….
OMG !
that is sweet man !
i tot that the camry was luxurious but this huge baby !
The front is pretty nice but i am quite put off by the back of it. Looks a bit cacat somehow…
That's one bad ass looking airbag there…
Got lace some more….
Haha, yeah – if you have to crash, doesn't mean you can't do it with style. Can I have Burberry airbags please?
A large car with a tiny engine? It looks more of a 2.0 – 2.4L kind of car. Just wait and see, we might see this coming in as recond.
the new vios looks like this would be way… better .
what is that on the mirrors, airbags?
very normal toyota looking.
hmm, maybe i must say when one climb to no 1, he/she/it always become consevative.
Can UMW consider to upgrade or bring in this twins as it looks nice…i think it can boost the toyota sales…
Yeah! Sure it can sure boost the Toyota sales and kill the P1 sales also! Good move if UMW Toyota did it!
it must be seen with the naked eye before having any last thoughts about this toyota…..
I want a feature to temporarily activate those side air-curtains while I'm having a nap in the car! I'd like my curtain with Doraemon or Cinnamoroll patterns please! Serious, this is as good as in-car comfort gets. :p
man, I wish this is this can be the new corolla, it looks way better than the new coming toyota corolla…
Very nice. Jez bought allion A18 2001 model (2002 recon unreg) few days ago for a bit above 100K (9 tahun loan ma..). I’m still in cloud nine since then. The fuel economy is incredible.
Need ur advice Paul,.. Is the shocks and coils the same as toyota wish (thats what I’m being told)? Another thing will 17 inches rim with 50 inches tyres fit the allion? Thanx in advance…
I personally view the car last weekend, almost the same size as Mark X, luxury interio i must say but the engine size apperantly not that appearing as it come with 1.5cc + original 14″ rim!!! *alternatively theres 1.8cc to choose… when saw the rims i was like… omg man, with such big body equip with such small rims, it rather ugly or not suitable at all & the price also very appearing as the sales girl said this baby cost at least SGD$71k -.-” *imagine if go for 1.8cc how much will it cost… if wan luxury car, theres plenty of it rather then this one.
IMO, this car certainly not worth it. Go down the showroom see for your self with your naked eyes. I not condeming this car, I jus feel disapointed on it, really.
Allion Pros:
1, Beauty, spacious & luxury
2, Good FC *which stats on the specs
3, Rare species
Allion Cons:
1, 1.5cc engine is real turn off with such big body + 14″ rims.
2, Pricey babe.
3, For SG buyer, this car avail on PI only.
Hi MnM,
Which PI did you go to check this Allion out?

I would like to know more details of toyota Allion technical specifications. At the moment I am using a Allion 2007 manufactured model, I am quite satisfied with the vehicle.
Thanks
Rgds,
Shanthi
I've just got my Allion and am still running in (1000km required for run-in). So far, I'm quite satisifed with the car. Some features that are a nice surprise for a car in the sub 1.5 liter segment are:
1) Climate control aircon;
2) Individual reading lights. There are also light in the sun-shade mirrors as well;
3) Adjustable tilt for the head lamps;
4) Push button start;
5) Keyless entry;
6) The cabin light turns on automatically once you are near to your car;
7) Auto head light on or off depending on the lighting conditions;
8) Rear seats can be tilted and folded to greatly increase the already huge boot space (I can sleep inside the boot…I'm serious…);
9) Immobilizer that will stop the car if someone drove it off without the key;
10) Fuel consumption meter that calculates your average fuel consumption;
11) Econ-mode indicator that let you know if you are reving the engine more than it needs to…
12) Separate Seat belt warning for driver and front passenger;
13) Multitude of storage compartments to store your stuffs and keep the interior clear by hiding all those messy junks;
14) Foldable side mirrors;
15) etc, which I have yet to discover.
And for those who doubts that a 1.5l engine can pull off a 1.4ton body, have no fear, the pickup is still faster than a Honda Jazz or Stream. you can rev it harder….as long as you don't give a damn to the econ-mode indicator…lol
I love the car. I have a 2007 allion I am still trying to figure out how to operate it. I know it needs the key inside to start but even with the key inside the key light still keep blinking and it wont start. What do I do?? i need some help here please.

The car is all round superb, As a standard fitting why the mud flaps, fog lights & door visors are not provided. 14 inch standard wheel size is too small for the vehicle, 15 inch is the correct size. Steering wheel seems to be little big, better it would have been smaller.
Agreed. 15 or 16 in would fit great into this one along with the TRD sports kit that's available in JDM. And this car isn't to replace the Corolla Altis. It's larger than the Corolla but smaller than the Camry (Camry is smaller than the Mark X/Crown Royal). So it's just filling a gap in the middle. As for the 1.5L engine, it's for economy since a major portion of buyers are from urban areas in Japan. They're not blessed with our low fuel prices in SG/MY.
Second genertion allion was out in 2007 september. By 2010 will there be a new face lift or changes in the design. Do not know what sort of changes. Hope there will be LED's
Petrol consumption is good in long run. Can't notice the difference when use 90 octane and 95. I do not know what is recommended octane for Allion. Hope above 90 is accepted. HID and LEDs would have been standard for a vehicle of this class in year 2009.
I AM LOOKING TO BUY ONE OF THIS CAR
PLEASE QUOTE PRICE AND SHIPPING TO
GEORGETOWN GUYANA.
what is better on fuel economy. Is it the 1.5 or the 1.8 l. please let me know.
The 1.8l is better on fuel. I also recommend you the S package of the same car which has more features. It will have 16 INCH alloy wheels as starndard.
I just bought a 2nd hand Allion last week. This morning when I tried to start the engine, I could not start it. I read some forum saying that I will need to place my key-less device nearer to the Start/Stop button due to the interference of the radio frequency. Is it true ? Can someone please help me ?
