Leave it to Fiat and their JTD engines. They are so happy with their diesel that Fiat only has a couple of petrol engines. unfortunately what our friend said here is true (not Paul Tan, he is a messenger boy/delivery boy, but thanks for compiling all the web stories under one portal, we should be paying him a fee as consultants all have to open so many websites to get the news, now not anymore thanks to his hobby). Our diesel quality here will kill any modern diesel engine.

Typically turbo diesel engine’s car are cheaper and more FC compare to normal petrol car.. But in Malaysia, it is different.. The diesel now only Euro2, while Europe already euro4 moving to euro5, The quality of the diesel will affect the engine output and even damage it cause of high sulfer.. Another issue is that the G set the roadtax so high on diesel cars, the G always think that diesel only used in commercial cars/trucks… the G mindset is still in dinasour world, and they want to promote more petrol thx to petronas.. Even china are getting the new diesel engine.. how about P1? Europe are going for diesel, even Vpower Diesel also got in their shell pump station.. Anywayz a lot of ppl in Malaysia also think that diesel is dirty and bad smell.. Well the answer is the quality of the diesel.. The smell is from the sulfer, if the quality is higher so is the Euro standart.. In Europe the diesel is almost same like water and smell like water too just the taste not same! LOL! Anywayz i really hope that 1 day i can drive a diesel powered car and suv.. My dream is to have a volvo xc90, hopefully the new model by 2008/09 will come out a more powerfull diesel engine..

fuel consumption is very relative to the type of vehicle that uses this engine…..dont think its stated but if normal sedan/hatch gets this euro5 compliant engine….its gonna be a super fuel saver due to huge horsepower and high torque. its almost same to the Saab’s 1.9TTiD that produces 180bhp and 400NM of torque……great engineering from the europeans once again. i’m dying to hear news of any turbodiesels for affordable sedans coming to our country in 2009!!!

Wow, that’s a whole lot of power from a 1.9litre diesel engine! My 2.7litre turbodiesel only outputs 165bhp, so I guess capacity is less superior to technology now.. By the way, what will the fuel consumption be? Will it be high or higher than mine since there’s so much power and it’s a “twin stage turbo”? curious…
