Volkswagen Phaeton

Volkswagen’s new second generation Phaeton will be developed using Audi’s new MLP platform, and will be smaller than it’s stable-mate the Audi A8 in interests of product differentiation. The new Audi A8 will be revealed in August 2009, while the new D2 Phaeton will be out by 2010. The first car to use Audi’s new MLP platform is the new Audi A5/S5.

Dear BW, there are few branches VW showroom only in Malaysia mainly in Klang Valley, Shah Alam and Ipoh. To name a few Wearnes Automotive Sdn Bhd, More Cars Sdn Bhd, VW Cars Sdn Bhd, and Euromobil Sdn Bhd. So if you live outside these areas, you wouldn't see it.

Volkswagen Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd are planning to open more showrooms soon including East Malaysia. So be passion.

i believe VW has so far officially sold about 230+ cars so far, with by far the majority of sales going to the golf Gti. a couple of its tauoreqs, beetles, and some passats.

i think we can hardly say thats a lot of cars.. I would think their main competition is audi, and bmw to a certain extent. but strangely, in europe, the other 2 brands are sold at a premium, above VW.

i've seen quite a number of VW's on the road and honestly i think their achievement so far of 230+ units sold is very good considering its their 1st year of operation in malaysia apart from importers selling it. not to mention that their model lineup are all at a premium price and generally not many can afford those cars. if they can reach their 700 target within a year, thats good news also shows consumer's confidence and trust in that brand.

Nice..No wonder it looks similar with A8…

God..A8 is one of a few great cars i'd like to have. Haven't you watched the Transporter II ? Pheww..A8 is really a something which i would classify as " Damn..Now this is what i call a car."

Since Phaeton and A8 are akin, thus Phaeton will automatically eligible to be in my 'list'..

I thought the current Phaeton is already smaller than the A8, exterior-wise. Paul, you mean small in terms of exterior or interior, or both?

Reply Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
  13. Paul Tan says:

exterior. the new phaeton would probably drop from E-segment to D-segment.

    Dear kei9,

Hehe… a million dollar sardonic query. Wow, i am perplexed.

Yup i could snatch one of those in no time, by god's will. But it's just a matter of i don't want to. No, for the time being. The reason is, to procure those illustrious automobiles in Malaysia doesn't make sense at all, take into consideration of my thrifty oriented mindset…haha.

It's such a ludicrous since you are extorted to pay..what, 2 ? 3? times higher when acquiring those in Malaysia than their real reasonable price !!

Certainly i won't crucify my (frugality) principle for overzealous lust, not to mention that i'm not ever ready to give away some of my wealth to dumb ass AP's kingpins or to several moron's clans. No way dude.

By the way Kei9, how do you define rich ? Well to me, rich is not how much you make and spend that counts but how smart you manage the wealth you created.

p/s: As i mentioned above, not for the time being (As M'sia current affairs) but i'll definitely grab one of those should the price charged is a pure fixed. Not stained by such insanity law that yielded from a greed-centered judgment imposed by some morons. By the way, i'm not in Malaysia now..hehe
