I think it's either VW got a share in BorgWarner or the members of the Porsche family had some share in it. Because we know that VW got an exclusive DSG license from BorgWarner and Porsche got an exclusive VTG license from also them. And we know who owns both company…

Javanese, What i know VW finance most of the R&D at borg warner coz their factory produce most are gearbox transmission. If VW don't give them a lot of $$$, do u think only VW will get it? beside that, VTG turbo are also from them used in porsche turbo.. But i heard rumours that VW also have share in borg warner..

Ricardo Engineering are the one who built the custom dual clutch transmission for the Veyron. It's is not the DSG that came out from VW factories (which made by Borg Warner) it's only marketed as such because VW are parent company of Bugatti. It uses soo many custom parts that calling it a "production" DSG transmission is like calling an F1cars gearbox just another AMT.

DSG was designed and built by Borg Warner and exclusively licensed to VW. VW help in the development and footing some of the R&D bill (I assume so much that they got an exclusive license to it). And BMW are in the process of making their own dual clutch gearbox (called M-DCT) which is being built by Getrag. I think it was posted here by Mr Tan in May or June.

I think the SST gearbox are based on (if not sourced from) Getrag DCT as bigwigs at Mitsubishi denied that it's a DSG or a DSG derived transmission. Plus the new getrag DCT are touted to be able to handle up to 750nm of torque which is pretty logical choice for Mitsu since we know that tuners will mess with this car engine barely 1 week after it's release. Nope you cant put it on you waja since it's a brand new engine (4B11T I think) based on a brand new chasis with a brand new gearbox.

BMW is SMG gearbox.. I think is the VW invent DSG first.. VW DSG gearbox can hold until W12 engine, it just the oil and material used in the gearbox has to change.. If u check the 1.4TSI engine, the VW downgrade the DSG gearbox to hold less BHP of the engine..

DSG handles 1001hp on bugatti veyron…and of course with paddle shifter. Bugatti use stick shifter btw

Dont talk about being better than DSG, if it is on par, i will already be a happy person. If you have tried the DSG, you will know that it is the beswt piece on engineering product on the Gti. The only problem is that the DSG, (if not mistaken) can only take it up to 280bhp. It just cant handle that much power.

Knowing full well that the evo 10 will be 280bhp and above, i would say that will be an engineering masterpiece , if it is on par with the DSG.

gearbox swaps between gears much faster on the upshifts as the next gear is preselected.

or the best selector should be stick shift to be thrown at any gear desired. like that? like 5th to 3rd,
