This is definitely a super cool ride. Just can't afford it at a brand new price tag. Guess will have to wait for a few more years before i can afford it…. sigh.. what to do. In the mean time have to make do with proton waja ….

Splendid,Gorgeous timely design. I love every inch of it, its a love or hate design,if u love it,u’ll love it 100%,if u dont its at ur lost. Driving a volvo in Malaysia is about making a statement. Its about being different from the rest of the status chasing malaysians. The whole idea of having a luxury car is to be bold and different from the rest of the road user. But then if everyone seems to own an E-class or a 5 series why bother getting one as well.. This S80 will make a real statement about the kind of a person you are. As a volvo 240 driver,I would love to get one if I have the money to spare

im 26 and i love volvo so much.. does that make me old? i used to own a volvo. as the motto says, volvo for life. but i never had the money to buy a volvo… i never liked volvo before my dad bought the volvo.. wait for 5, 6 years more, you will get this s80 for less than 100k… but dunno if the electronics will still work….

S60 are meant vs 3-Series and C-Class
S80 as to 5-Series and E-Class

Probably the majority of sales will be from the 2.5 T. The price of the 3.2 is so high due to taxes since it is a CBU model. In terms of power almost negligable despite the 38hp deficit since the peak torque comes earlier in the 2.5T(resulting on 0-100 time of 8.0sec vs 7.9 for the 3.2). Wonder if they will put in the additional features in the 2.5T later. My s60 was one of the first few models and I missed out on the steering audio controls which appeared in the later models.

go to the showroom and take a look at it, it looks really really good… I am impressed. Despite minimal design change, it looks miles apart from the previous S80. Very well done

Thou RM398k for the specs of this car alone is a super bargain, I reckon they won’t be able to sell even ONE for that kinda pricing, the one to blame however is not Volvo, but Malaysian buyers that are too brand conscious. On a side note, the exclusion of those high-tech stuffs that’s the benchmark in this S80 in the 2.5T is rather dissapointing, and if one were to opt for the 3.2, the extra 38hp seems rather dissapointing as well.

The enterior is of the best I’ve seen! BMWs and Mercs looked downright cheaply executed next to this. Wonderful wonderful wonderful interior!

On a side note, speaking about brands and answering the objections above:

Driving a Merc? You can be a doctor, engineer, pasar hawker, butcher, construction worker, or a dato.

Driving a BMW? You can be a lawyer, engineer, dato, pasar hawker, vcd pirates, hair saloon aunties and more importantly, thousands and thousands of direct sales and insurance fellas ….

Audi/Volvo/Saab ? Only elites like lawyers, engineers, doctors opt them. You won’t bump into some samseng or low level-loud talking so called datos, or multi-level-marketing-look-at-me-i’m-rich-thick-skin-freaks driving the same car as yours.

That alone, is worth going for this car — OH, provided you’re one of them samsengmultilevelmarketinginsuranceagents trying ……. real hard …..

i been impressed by the design of the interior. exterior look very simply as wat volvo are. still that smell which i love. tough looking and stable looking. u look at it for 100 years also wont feel bored. 1 term to describe, long-term design. complicated thought yet simple looking. oh no!!i’m too into the design of simplicity. abandon the necessary element and simplified the important element and bring them up. (just my own thought while looking at the car)
i always love volvo unique thought. they have their own perception on car. came out their own design. n 1 more point is i dont think merc, bmw or volvo will need to steal each others client. they have their own market aim. those who love things to be long term wise, volvo is one of the best choice. lolz!!

Chun is absolutely correct.The S80 is a much bigger car compared to the 3 series or C class.For the features offered it is a good buy. And look at the power figures…300 Nm at 1500 rpm. The design is a good evolution of the previous one,the back lights look better and the side profile is more streamline.

But the usual saying still holds true, if you want a safe comfortable highway cruiser, buy a volvo.;driving pleasure,go for BMW,prestige -merc,uncommon-audi/saab,reliable and quiet-Lexus. The volvo will never be able to compete with the other marques in their stronghold areas.

I’ve always have a spot for Volvos. This new S80 is indeed a boring car, perhaps when it comes to driving dynamics against the more established Beemer 5 series and Merc E-class, but for those who can look past the mainstream models for a better alternative like the Volvos, Saabs and Audis, the ownership experience is indeed very pleasant.

I’ve driven the previous S80 before and though the base 2.0T model wasn’t anything to shout about, the 4 hour drive was a real eye opener. Put simply, i had no complaints at all.

I love this car, the softer curves are very easy on the eyes unlike the current 5 Series which is attractive no doubt but its beauty doesn’t strike you instantly. For its price, it’s great value.

When I first read this article, I almost did a double take on the price. RM268k is very reasonable for this car. I see that some people are comparing the S80 to the 3 series and C Class cars, when in fact the S80 is in the A6, 5 series, E Class bracket! And the cheapest S80 competitor is the A6 2.0T which goes for RM295k. I love the A6, but the S80 at this price would warrant me a second look at the S80.

Why not make the 2.5T car fitted with all the safety options.. it will sell more if the pricing is the same as above… These safety options mainly only can be get in S-class only, especially the Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning (CW), Brake Support (BS). Even BLIS have it, if u want to find all this kind of technology in a car, Merc S-class is expensive to this.. Volvo is almost the safeties car in the world.. If u want to buy safety at a value, Volvo is the best choice..

at rm268+k.. i think its very reasonable 4 dis car!
a teana already cost rm230+k if i’m not wrong..
used 2 drive my family’s volvo850 20.5 5cyl.. superb car! looking 4ward 2 driving dis car.. volvos r very very good family car.. judging from d way volvo protect every1 inside n even outside.. volvo xc90 has a lower ‘main beam’ to improve compatibility issues.. eg: SUV vs HATCH.. high SUV wil definitely benefit from its height.. crashing into a HATCH wit a much lower ‘beam’, HATCH wil definitely b in trouble.. However in Volvo’s quest 4 safety 4 every1, they lowered d “beam” in d xc90.. dunno watz tat ‘beam’ called.. i’m sorry.. hope 2 c dis car flood Malaysian roads.. so tat every1 njoys safety.. Volvo For Life!

its nice…i always think volvos have their own owners club…i dont think thy can steal buyers from bmw and merc to get a volvo….another point is…i bet most volvo owners are not that young in age group…so all those technolgies wont be used that often by those older generation buyers…..the 2.0T is around the same price blracket as the c-class and the 325…..

Very nice car but despite all the integrated technology and reasonable pricing, Volvo has not been able to capture the Malaysian market compare to the overpriced Merc’s and BMW’s. Some designs are hot plus the cool features somehow doesn’t whisper the desire to own one. Is it the name, that was not associate with luxury and glamour (or posh) that is to be blame. Is it the bad resale value, the expensive spareparts, or just nah…it doesn’t create the same feeling like owning a Merc or BMW…..

that how its differ from the bubbly and busy japanese or some korean interior,

(simplistic of proton ,lotus minimalist cue interior is something that i can live with..)
