This is one very unique engine. there is no boxer diesel in cars yet. There is variable turbo in the engine and I do think that 110kw is a great deal as it is a mass production engine.

Anymore power will probably just meant more turbo lag. I think the old days of turbo lag then crazy power surge is gone now. today's turbo engine has to be grunty and smooth in power delivery.

I look forward to try out this engine.

Out of topic* COLIN MCRAE IS DEAD! WAH! T.T

http://www.thetorquereport.com/2007/09/breaking_news_colin_mcrae_and.html

Hot damn!!! 350Nm of Torque!!! That's more than most 3 liter petrol engines!!! I hope this will find its way into the next Forester. If they can just modernize the Forester, then I have a viable replacement for my ATR. Or better yet, Mitsu pops the evo-x engine into the Outlander and create a new Airtrek!

Just 147 horsepower? Might no be a variable geometry turbocharger, but still, it's a diesel boxer! Hope to see them use this for rally :)

Nice to have more manufacturers jump into the diesel bandwagon. This diesel would work wonders for Subarus due to the inherently heavier drivetrain setup with AWD.

Subaru's that I've driven were always turbocharged or have a big engine (2.5 Impreza, 2.5T Forester XT) and does well with a nice torque curve for drivability.

This being a boxer would do well for the chassis, due to diesels being heavier with iron blocks, such that it is mounted very low in the car.
