For me for equivalent spec’d it’s a wrong to put RM79k (same like Latio ST Manual). ETCM’s Livina will not really successful if they sell for this price ‘coz post Aidilfitri and closer to year end when they launch (so will expect to get less trade in value).

I can’t figure out why ETCM didn’t launch before Hari Raya? Is Muslims are not important to ‘em or other factor; govt to protect PERSONA’s sales? Why Livina potential can be sacrifice lamb for Proton? DO ETCM got share in Proton? They’re different segment altogether as easily price variance circa RM20k from basic Persona.

These Livinas will use the same 1.6 and 1.8 engine from Latio. From one of the interview by the Star with Tan Chong I really think the price bracket will be in between RM79k-RM98k. Furthermore, Tan Chong want to compete in term of quality and add-ons rather than price war. It is sad to hear this actually. People buy cheap things + badge not because of this optional features. Just look at the Latios number till today. it is hardly to spot one right. If in Johor, the Singaporean plated Latios are more than the J plate one.

This space is currently occupied by the Naza Citra, though reportedly there is some special deal right now involving Hyundai Trajet MPVs being sold for under RM100k.

Paul, l agree with you though l already commit to this MPV. BTW if Kia bring that machine that’s different story.

Diesel: Perhaps, ETCM or Nissan itself listen to customers request. Just bring another variant of K9K Max Power 78 kW (ECE) 4000 rpm, Max torque 240 Nm (rpm) 2000 rpm for Livina. Megane Estate with this engine only sip 4.1L/100km, more than good.

Now, many buyers are younger and more educated yet have accessed to NET. They know even Japanese and Americans now embrace diesel.

Paul, need ya friend Theo Chin to do his magic on Malaysian Livina; at least have Sylphy side mirrors, new seat design, new grille (can take from Qashqai/Rogue), sportier bumper than uglier Indonesia’s even China’s better.

We deserved different style of Livina to suit us better than Indonesias and Chinese.

Nissan needs to bring a small engine “utility” version (like the Commercial Renault Kangoo). Preferable with Renault’s 1.5 Turbo Diesel.

I know of a few small busineess owners that can use a replacement for thier aging AD Resorts. Don’t quite understand why this segment of the market is completely ignored by almost all manufacturers.

In Europe, they even have Utility version of small hatchbacks, which are basically stripped out regular models with no back seat and trim.

shamel: yeah, it’s an ASEAN car unfortunately. all ASEAN cars seem to “feel” the same… reeks of cost cutting, etc. let’s see if this one is different, unfair to just pass judgement on it before anyone actually gets to drive it here.

Did l mentioned new Kia Carens MPV 2.0 CRDi?

Definitely better than Livina IF they bring 2.0 CRDI with 104kW Max Power, Max torque 305 – 314 Nm (rpm) 1800 – 2500 rpm simply dwarf few SUT (truck), of course Toyota Hilux.

The new Carens more European than Livina and more proportionate design, both interior and exterior. The diesel have average 6.1l/100km, 187kmh and 11 second for manual tranny. l just try SG model without diesel engine.

definitely must be CHEAPER than LATIO (RM79.9k) as Latio is a “car” vs people mover Livina. Despite of less one row of seat, Nissan cheap MPV mean for Asian never close to Japanese’s midi MPV, i.e Stream 1.8/2.0, Wish or even Nissan Lafesta itself.

Though Vanza have more seat/space than Vios or VioGong it’s inexpensive than the latter.

Can we call it, Japanese monocoque MPV? I don’t think so. Perhaps, Japanese brand Asian made MPV is more appropriate. Check the latest Stream if you wanna know why most of us still prefer true Japanese car/MPV.
