Nissan GT-R to come with 3.8 liter turbo V6

Nissan GT-R

We will be able to see the final production version of the Nissan GT-R at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show next week, though many argue that we’ve already seen the production version with the GT-R PROTO shown previously.

While we have an idea what it will look like, specs have been not much but rumours so far, but AN reports that the new sports car will be powered by a 3.8 liter twin turbo V6 sending power through all four wheels with an all-wheel drive system, a GT-R trademark.

Given the modern performance turbocharged engine’s usual 100 to 150 horsepower to liter ratio, expect the new Nissan GT-R to be putting out over 400 horsepower.

It will come in a few colour options: three different shades of silver, white pearl, red and black. There will also be a GT-R Black Edition and a GT-R Premium Edition, other than the normal standard version which starts at US$66,500. The Premium Edition is expected to cost US$72,000.

VQ35HR already found its way in Skyline(JDM) and others Infiniti model
this will be using a VQ38HR or VQ38VHR, so i hope it would churn more than 420bhp(top of the line model)!

Well, though it may not match the Porsches, Fezzas and Lambos on pure excitement, one must still pay homage to possibly Japan’s most feared supercar. They didn’t christened it the Gozzila for nothing.

Tracing back the history of the Skyline was particularly interesting, especially in 1989 when the R32 was seen beating up the M3s and other supercars on the racetrack, en route to its world wide racing ban.

I will think this new GT-R is a Porsches killer….hmmmm. So when we can see more new “ver” of Honda NSX & Toyota Supra. Anyway the hardcore fan will stay w/Porsches but we sure see lot of this GT-R give them a good run.

the Skyline may be equal to performance with Porsche and other Italian makes, but you still cant compare the 2…

those wanting a Skyline wont consider a Porsche, likewise those considering a Porsche..

The Skyline ought to be much much cheaper too…

More pictures have surfaced on the net despite the apparent gag order.

    Just google it.

Interestingly it has a large boot. Probably using run flats……..

Motor Trend apparently has tested the car….3.5s to 60, 11.7s to 1/4mile and top speed of 192MPH. Thats seriously quick.

Price wise, that is superb quickness for the bux, although at this level, buyers would probbaly not even blink an eye that this is almost at 911 prices…well almost.

A supercar that you can probably drive everyday….although for everyday use, an Evo or STi (at half the price – i would add) would have enough to get you into all sorts of mess with the police.

Performance would be great, without doubt, after all, it’s the successor to the legendary R32. R33 & R34, but styling design is disappointing to say the least; it just doesn’t look the part anymore, especially with the now obviously coupe-ish roofline. And the interior, it’s just ghastly, all squarish grey plastic. What’s performance without proper styling? Only the butt screams GT-R now, the rest is just bland sheet metal.

Wow! Those figures are really stratospheric but certainly not unbelievable given the effective ATTESSA ETS drive system employed by the previous Skylines. 3.5 seconds to the century dash will see it go head to head with 911 GT3, F430 and even the Gallardo. Impressive.
