260hp out of an N/A engine is nothing new for race cars.

btcc cars in the 90's were putting out 300hp out of their 2.0 cars. even the proton waja btcc car puts out almost 300hp from its 2.0 engine derived from the renault 1.8 in the waja.

Group R3 does not replace grp N(production car class + Super 2000 cars) and A(World Rally Cars).

Group R3 cars are only eligible to run together with the Super 1600 cars in the world rally championships under the "junior rally championships"

That R3 is meant to be its racing class in 2008. The is a new class to replace group N and group A. it is called FIA Group R. So R3 is a racing class for cars with engine capacity of 1601cc up to 2000cc. No relations with proton R3

It's sad to see Skoda's futile attempt in the WRC. Perhaps the could revive Audi's past WRC glory with an A4 or an A3, but i guess the VW board is content with Audi's successful involvement in Le Mans and DTM.

Hondas have never been serious contenders in rally competitions, but i remember seeing some EK hatches in local rally races in Australia. It'll be fun to watch Honda in WRC, especially when they have come so far in terms of their racing pedigree. I think the Group N entry would suit this Civic.

Another contender? The C4s and Focus are still unbeatable. Perhaps this car is targeted to the privateers. 2 litre on 2 wheels? I thought only the Super 1600 runs on 2WD. But then, it's 1.6 litre. Which group will it fit? Group N?

The good thing is, we get a more variety of cars. Citroen, Ford, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki. And now, Honda? Cheers.

What happen to the Skodas anyway?
