I bought the original PS for GT1. Got the PS2 slim for GT4.

Crap, now me thinks me going to spend another shit load of dough on the PS3 and the GT5/HD. And its not only the system that is expensive. Going to be a pity to spend another 5 grand on a HD panel just to play GT5. I hardly watch TV and dont have Astro…..

Nanashisan, I couldn’t find anywhere the full list of the cars. Are you referring it from LowYatt’s forum?

Hmm…that’s weird. I posted one comment before but it didn’t appear.

Anyway, referring to what nanashisan said, if the list on wedeking.org is authentic, then it will be a good feature! Proton on Gran Turismo? But I wonder when Sony will include it in the game pack. Not anytime soon I guess.

Bro, PS3 is not too expensive nowadays. U can get one for less than RM1400 for the 40GB version. I already got mine. And waiting for this game (Due out on 21st December) makes u even glad that u bought it.

Can’t afford to buy LCD HDTV yet? Not to worry, u can connect your PS3 to a 19″, 20”, 22” or 24” LCD Widescreen PC Monitor (HDCP supported) via a HDMI-DVI cable and you’re ready enjoy HD gaming!!

to nizam: only 32″ 1mp panel that can upscale to 1080res. no need full HD. full HD is very expensive. dell 24″ price almost same as 32″ LCD. y not for a bigger 1…?

Dell’s widescreen 24″ LCD Monitor (E248WFP) only costs RM1349 which can support up to a maximum resolution of 1920×1200, so in this case, its capable of 1080p which is full HD. Refer here:

    http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/e248wfp?c=my&cs=mydhs1&l=en&s=dhs

A 32″ HD ready LCD TV cost bout RM2999 (Sony Bravia), which is more than a 24″ LCD monitor. Of course, people can get the LCD TV if they want to, but my suggestion of a 24″ LCD monitor is for those who are on a budget, but want to enjoy HD gaming.

OIC then ur thought would be only for gaming purpose. that is only a monitor and lack of composite and component input. i wan a full function tv so i can view my PS2 and my dvd on it. and your suggestion on a 24″ would be too small for me. i wan at least 29″

for everybody who wan to buy 40gb version please prepare for this. the 40gb version is lack of two usb port instead of 4 on the 80gb and no wifi. its also have backwards compability which u cannot play ps1 and ps2 game on the new ps3

As i’ve said earlier, my setup is for budget gamers who want to enjoy the PS3 together with an affordable HD screen but having limited budget. PC widescreen monitor doesn’t come in 29″. It comes is 19″, 20″, 22″, 24″ and 27″. For your information, the PS3 itself can play movies in Blu-ray format and also DVD. And if u want a Widescreen LCD monitor that comes with component input, then u could go for a Benq (FP241W). Refer here:

    http://www.benq.com.my/products/LCD/?product=1010&page=specifications

The PS3 40GB has the following (Cost below RM1400)
    – It has 2 USB ports
    – IT HAS WIFI
    – It has NO Backwards compatibility which means it can’t play PS1 and PS2 games. However how many of u here buy the PS3 to play PS1 and PS2 games? Of course u buy the PS3 to play PS3 games, am i right? And one more thing, if it can play PS2 games, it will only read ORIGINAL PS2 games.

The PS3 80GB has all of the above, (can play PS1 an PS2 ORIGINAL games as well) and a total of 4 USB ports, plus memory card slots for SD card and Memory stick Pro Duo. (Cost below RM1700)

PTAIITheBest, if u want to know any further and interested in buying the PS3, head over to LYN forums. We can discuss more there, and there are more experts on gaming setups there as well. I think it’s not appropriate to further continue my discussion here, as it’s drifting further away from the Gran Turismo 5:Prologue topic. Sorry Paul.

For serious buyers considering to purchase a PS3, better yet, head over to LYN forums where REAL PS3 40GB Malaysian OWNERS (not smart-asses) discuss more in-depth regarding the 40GB PS3 which also has built-in WiFi and also comes in Ceramic White color.

    http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/555713/+100

Yes, the 80GB PS3 can still play ORIGINAL PS2 games, but how many of us here has ORIGINAL PS2 games? We are talking locally here, not in the US.

Or, everyone can head over to the Playstation’s official site for detailed specs of the 40GB, 60GB, and 80GB PS3. Based on the website, notice that the 40GB PS3 also has built in WiFi, which some smart-ass clown here previously claim that it doesn’t have one.

The intention of my previous post was to point out and correct your errors coz u’ve said that the 40GB PS3 doesn’t have WiFi, and also to point out that the 80GB PS3 can play only ORIGINAL PS2 games The main reason is to just simply to provide correct information. I’m aware of the situation in Malaysia where not many people can afford originals (including me, as I only have a few games for the PS3 currently). However, not being able to afford it now doesn’t mean that we (Malaysians) may not be able to afford it in the few years to come. The console itself and it’s games will be getting cheaper and more and more people like u and me will be able to own a PS3.

I’m sure that u are pissed off coz u think that I am calling u a ‘smart-ass clown’ previously, and that has probably resulted u in calling me a ‘stupid malay’. Chill bro. I don’t have a clue whether you are a Chinese, Indian, or Malay, coz I don’t really care what your f**king race is…… But I do have to admit…. U got BIG BALLS saying that to me in front of a PC monitor. How bout saying that to me face-to-face, and lets see what happens, shall we? CHOW!!!

looks really good…..now if only they have a firm release date on the game….i have the setup ready…hehe…
didnt know the 40GB version is so cheap nowadays…

as for HD ready vs Full HD….think most wont notice the difference unless you’re intending to play this on a projector…..on a 100″ screen…….i tested full hd and hd ready 50″ TV….cant say there’s significant difference….
