2009 Skoda Superb to be shown at Geneva 2008

New Skoda Superb

The latest 2009 Skoda Superb carries Skoda’s most recent design language and will be unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland on the 6th of March 2008. Earlier this year selected car journalists were presented the opportunity to drive a variant of the new Skoda Superb featuring a 1.8 litre TSI engine putting out 160 horsepower.

This will be the second generation flagship Skoda – the first generation Superb was based on a long wheelbase Volkswagen Passat. Many were talking about Proton using the first gen “stretched Passat” Skoda Superb as a base for the Proton Perdana Replacement Model.

The first gen Superb is on sale here in Malaysia for RM181,068.40 OTR without insurance for the 1.8 litre turbo model, and RM259,022.50 OTR without insurance for the 2.8 litre V6 model.

Hei, this is not the same category wif Persona. Do u get a 1.8T or a V6 engine in Persona?

Anyway for a Passat category, this is cheap for the 1.8T. Maybe it is import from czech so cheaper?

There are already many discussion on this model in paultan’s forum. And yes it doesn’t have attractive look. But i reserve my comment until i see the full detail after geneva motor show.

This model uses stretched platform of the latest passat model, with wider and longer body. The current generation of skoda superb is already very spacious, and i believe this one will be huge.

FYI, the designer of WV Phaeton is the man behind this project. Already there was a test drive report on the prototype by autocar UK recently in US and it left them a very good impression. Lets wait and see…

    By a proud skoda owner.

Wow… to compare the Persona to the Superb is a bit heavy handed dont you think? The superb is in a completly different category!!!!!!!!!!!!! not miles apart but galaxies apart!

the car category, build, finishing, quality, gadgets..etc…

come on people… Arent we past this "BMW this and BMW that" nonsense? Perhaps not in your neighbourhood, but people elsewhere buy on the bases of many things and not only the name… Skodas were the butt of jokes in the 70s in the UK and today? always in the top 3 selling cars and quality serveys for years. If the name skoda had any trouble then it would be in the UK and today its the most reliable sought after family cars…

get in one, see one in real life and then come and talk…

am proud my country produces Skodas rather than Protons… the latter has a lot to catch up with and could not come even CLOSE to the quality levels and innovation of Skoda.. do your homework boys

Comparing the persona to the Superb? wow… you must be a real nationalist :) its like comparing a small propeller plane to a a full fledged airbus or Boeing!!!!! MILES apart!
