Suzuki Swift Sedan snapped in India

Suzuki Swift Sedan

While it is a common practice these days to turn hatchbacks into sedans, some hatches really shouldn’t be turned into sedans. One such hatch is the Suzuki Swift, which looks really good as a hatch but as these spyshots show, looks as odd as a Chery QQ6 when it is given a notchback sedan body style.

This photo was snapped at Suzuki India… is this the replacement for the Maruti Suzuki Esteem sedan (essentially a sedan based on an older Suzuki Swift)?

The new Suzuki Swift Sedan will hit Indian showrooms in February 2008.

The back looks weird.. Like a mix of the old Elantra and the new Vios. Even the lines for the back pillar is weird too.

Are those panel gaps for real? Anyway, i think the Latio and City look much better than this.

In India, Swift is in different class than SX4, because it only offered in 1.3 petrol & 1.5 diesel. It was actually meant to be replacement for the ageing Esteem (old swift sedan – which last time also offered in Singapore). So it is not a direct competitor for City & Vios (not yet in India), the task which bourne by SX4 sedan.

Contrary to malaysian taste, Indian is very keen to buy this car now – shown by the booking is increasing in good number, according to one of the dealer. The swift hatchback is currently one of best selling car and booking period is about 3-4 month for petrol & 6 month for diesel.
