It was actually meant to be replacement for the ageing Esteem (old swift sedan - which last time also offered in Singapore). So it is not a direct competitor for City & Vios (not yet in India), the task which bourne by SX4 sedan. Contrary to malaysian taste, Indian is very keen to buy this car now - shown by the booking is increasing in good number, according to one of the dealer. The swift hatchback is currently one of best selling car and booking period is about 3-4 month for petrol & 6 month for diesel.
