Triple rotor Mazda Furai Concept

Mazda Furai

The Mazda Furai Concept unveiled at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show recently was basically a rebodied 2005 Courage C65 racecar chassis, given a closed-cockpit fiberglass body that complies with 2008 American Le Mans Series rules.

The new body can generate 80% of the original race-spec body’s downforce, a respectable feat considering it was designed without the use of a wind tunnel. The Mazda Furai Concept is powered by a three-rotor Mazda 20B rotary fueled by E100, which is basically ethanol. Normally aspirated, it puts out 450 horsepower.

A few more photos after the jump.

    Very organic design. From side view it looks like a future F1 McLaren. It looks even better than hypercar zonda and koenigsegg

    HR Giger is the man responsible in creating alien creature for the movie ALIEN. this must be his latest creation.

    Paul mention earlier that it’s powered by a three-rotor Mazda 20B rotary fueled by E100, I bet E100 mean “human blood” uuu… creepy!!!

    Mazda has always never fails to impress me. Although owned by Ford, Mazda still produces cars that is far better than any Ford.

    =============

    Its a race car, which means that its not road legal. If Mazda launch this baby, it surely will not be the same as this one (more tamer, street-friendly and practical).

    _________________________________________________________________________

    its an FR layout, the front is short bcos its using rotary engine, which is a lot smaller compare to piston engine

    btw, 787 using 4 rotor rotary engine, the body profile may have some similarities, but not the power plant. and 787 is a MR layout

    This car looks so exotic! This is an unbelievably beautiful design. It makes cars like Porsche and Konigsegg look boring.

    Reminds me somewhat of a Pagani Zonda, only way way way more badass :) This is how cars of the future should look like. Infiniti and Lexus, hmmph.
