the most amazing thing about bmw is, they continue to make engines that are more powerful, yet either have similar or better fuel consumption than the engine it replaces. plus, the engines are also greener with lower emissions.

it's sad to think that in years to come, the manual gearbox would become obsolete. sigh.

the good thing is you will almost always hit this 0-100 time with the DKG vs a manual (which would depend on driver skill).

but call me old school - i still prefer a cog to play around with. :)

Oh and since the debut is on a cabrio with a folded hard top, that would mean extra metal and extra weight? Now if there was a better acceleration time than an M3 with the same hp, it would really be amazing. But I seriously doubt it.

Richtig!

I am a bit puzzled by shift time do you mean the time between full engaged gears or do you mean acceleration differences between a manual and a equal DKG equipped machine?

What if it was compared with a 5 speed manual? Less cogs means less time in-between gears. Mucho less Euros too, no?

I think DKG means Doppelkupplung Getriebe?
The initials are there, a direct translation will give those results as well
