Lately, the exterior design of these cars are getting a lot of inspiration from COCKROACH and DUGONG. Back to nature, I guess What happen to the good old days when the looks of the car can simply mesmerize people? A design that make the car desirable by many. It aint stupid, its creative and pure business oriented…its all about being able to push the limits and create more choices for the mass, current customers shouldnt jz be confined to stringent platforms as such happened in the past. Now its the new era of exploring the outburst of many niche market segment , they:re cars for each segments. Added to it, these companies as in this case Toyota (which happens to be one the biggest automaker, and still the top 2 along with GM) researched thoroughly within their marketing and R&D department for optimum results which always been the case for Toyota models. For someone to like nor dislike is a subjective matter, but to me its good to have all these variations of models and platform emerging.
