Proton Edar Sdn Bhd has a new CEO – Encik Mohamad Shukor bin Ibrahim, who will also serve as Proton Holdings Berhad’s new Director of Domestic Sales. He has a long history in the Malaysian automotive industry, serving 14 years at Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd before moving on to a short stint as Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s President and COO.

at first i thought DSZ was replaced by new guy. it is quite shocking and it should be a big news.
however, when i read carefully on second time, it is for Proron Edar, not Proton Holding. a lol for myself…..

So how about the ‘incumbent’ CEO? Being a minister just like the Maybank CEO?

Good move, hopefully Proton’s domestic sales & after service will further improve. He should revised Proton’s service center services & price and be more competative.
The most important thing thing he should do is to educate their salesmen & women to be more responsible to their company & clients.
Cheers to Proton

What I first thought was this man is going to be in charge of the overseas marketing department, until I was told by someone that he is responsible for our domestic market. Haih my bad, didn’t read the text properly…

Proton Edar has been without CEO for more than a year since Datuk Maruan left (now he is one of Proton BOD).
Actually I don’t see anything spectacular he can offer becoz he is just a marketing guy. In Automotive industry, the most important is a product (engineering, R&D) not a marketing. If they produce good product, the marketing automatically should do better.
You see, even Edar don’t have the CEO they still can sell Persona and new Saga. When they have the CEO they can’t sell Sawi and Neo. So you blame the CEO or you blame the product?

To MyVikiller – thanks for your profound explanation, au fait.
To e-bay – yes, if you have a good product the marketing people will have an easier time selling the products. A ‘good product’ need to have the right specifications, price and quality besides the nice styling for the intended market and/or customers. Another thing is timing – even you have the ‘right’ product and launch it during a recession, it would most probably fail to take off. Even with a highly paid CEO!
