Mitsubishi will be unveiling the 5-door hatchback version of the Mitsubishi Lancer at the 2008 Paris Motor Show in October this year.

The baseline version of the hatch will be powered by the 1.5 litre 4A91 DOHC engine featuring MIVEC variable valve timing, producing 109 PS at 6,000rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. This is the same engine found in the normally aspirated Mitsubishi Colt as well as the smart forfour.

Slightly up the range is a 1.8 litre model powered by the 4B10, a version of the 4B11 2.0 litre we know here in our market with a reduced displacement. The 4B10 engine makes 143 PS at 6,000rpm and 177Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. There will also be a 2.0 litre turbodiesel model producing 140 PS, likely to be using the same Volkswagen engine as the Indian turbodiesel Lancer sedan.

A Lancer Sportback Ralliart will also be showcased, featuring a turbocharged 4B11T 2.0 litre engine similiar to the one in the Lancer Evolution but iwth a lower power output of 240 horses and 343Nm of torque. It will be mated to the Twin Clutch SST gearbox, with an Active Center Differential and 4WD.

I like this better than the sedan. Seriously for only one reason. The trunk opening on the Lancer is quite pathetic. Hatchbacks offer more utility.

mitsubishi’s answer to the new impreza? crap, the mighty lancer don’t need any answer for that pathetic impreza, it has advantage in every aspects…

Donno about you all, but I find the rear end does not belong to the front. you look at the rear and then the front, they don’t match up. I don’t like lancer, they always have very spongy brakes. Scares the hell out of me when I was driving it. Subaru has the best brakes in the world.

oh, and err.. Subaru’s new model WRC debut at the Greece Rally, which is the toughest rally on the calendar and it finished 2nd. Just behind Sebastian Loeb. That is mighty impressive.

cammon evo x design is lame, look borink already now… atlease new impreza has their target and they have archive it, first outing got second place.. that superbbb, full of potention…

dude, try to compare the specs, read some of the reviews in magazines and internet, then I’m sure u will know which is a better car….

evo x design is lame and boring? LMAO, coz evo x is one the most popular and high rating vehicles in 2008, just like the GT-R……

and its sad to see the new soul-less hatchback impreza to have many ratings which are below average, in terms of exterior looks and handling…..

first outing got second place? indeed, but its the driver’s effort, not the car……

this Sportback version may not be appealing to some, but the sedan version (from the 1992 evo 1 to 2005 evo 9 and the latest evo 10) is way better than impreza, or any other in the same category……

cammon bro, don’t be afraid to admit that the new evo x is simply a better car just because u never like an evo before…

or its bcoz u are really in love with the trademark blue paint, lol~

the only thing the impreza has going for it, is the signature boxer-burble, thats it. the new evo simply raised the bar, way higher. as for the sportback, i’m not a fan, the saloon is better looking.
