Companies like BMW do not have a choice but to make less polluting cars and that includes the M5. To me, a V8 turbocharged muscle with lots of torque is a lot of fun. Yes, it will be fuel efficient when you tell the car computer to do so. But it can be changed to a ferocious beast as well. If the engine has direct injection, then it will be cheaper to run than a NA engine. The EU emissions standard is getting very strict.
