The little compact 5-seater MPV you see above is the NICE Ze-O from the NICE Car Company in the UK. NICE in this context stands for No Internal Combustion Engine, a very apt name as the Ze-O has no combustion engine but is instead powered by an electric motor (no details on the motor’s kilowatt output).
It will be displayed at the 2008 British International Motor Show this month but unlike all the electric car concepts we’ve seen so far, this isn’t a concept. It’s a production vehicle that will be sold in UK in Autumn 2008 and the rest of Europe in 2009.
The NICE Ze-O is manufactured in China and has a top speed of 88km/h, with a maximum range of 105km, good for day to day driving if you charge every night or maybe every two nights. Range can be extended with optional lithium ion batteries. The best part is the Ze-O is priced for the masses – £14k (RM89,500), not very much different from a high end smart fortwo in the UK.

14,000Pounds !?
Still, a hybrid is the better bet here. With 105km range per charge, it will not be going anywhere further than the nearby kedai runcit.
With hybrid, you can switch over, and reach a recharge area for another 100 plus km electricity drive. And electricity performance in terms of range is weight, and type of usage influenced. Too aggresive, it will get you to the main road. Too heavy, it will stall at the next turning from your house..
Maybe in campus use maybe ideal.
88KM/H… enough for city driving…
new tech, nice stuff…….just wonder how much electricity is required for that.
suddenly a month of tenaga bill comes to RM1,000…people will be better off with petrol anyhow……i’m sure charging a car aint gonna be cheap.
88km/h walauleh, must remember to charge this car every night, if not u end up a usless car
thewell , hear a name also know its a china product d…
wow, pretty good achievement, but 105km per charge is not gonna be sufficient here with our long roads and crappy transport system.
made in china? maybe to lower manufacturing cost, if quality control is good, then it should be ok.
if not…..Jiangling Crosswind SUV anyone?
I thought it is Kenari Replacemnet model.
100+km is pretty practical as a day to day vehicle! You can work as far as KL if you stay in Klang, you just need to charge it everyday, or even charge it at your office basement car park for free haha.
Lets say it is about the electric bill of a full blast air con overnite everyday? How much will that be? RM200 electric bill? It is considered very cheap.
It’s below 100km range.. trust me…no car manufacturer will tell the truth or the full truth.
Don’t forget batteries charging capacity will also go down after prolonged use.
I’d guess Ze-o mean “zero” footprint?
another g-wiz?
