Fluid based transmission cannot beat clutch based in terms of fuel economy.
Thus AMT is the way to go..
From a consumer point of view, we always want to wait n see.
Let others be the guinea pig and not pay to learn about the problems that may occur with AMT..
Savvy has AMT but the sceptism is on the Euro engine with high spare parts cost
Cheers Honda good on you to put AMT in Jazz..

I think we should remind ourselves that technology isn't for technology's sake, it is there for a good reason. Or, rather, it is there for a reason that is better than the one before.

So, whether it is i-DSI, CVT, VTEC, or whatever, the new systems employed to replace these, eventhough they take on different acronyms, are designed and engineered to improve on these old systems. Do not be preoccupied and obsessed with names. Understand first what they are about and why they are there, or aren't there, in the first place.

I'm quite certain that the reason i-DSI is nixed is because the 1.2-litre engine is far better in fuel economy and perhaps performance.

In any case, the new Jazz is a better, fresher looker than the old one eh?

Savvy has AMT but the local market still prefers 'trad' slushbox. The City's CVT is one of the reasons City sales aren't closer to Vios (fitted with an old tech auto) numbers.

AMT (automated manual trx) is the way to go in this high fuel price era..
Clutch based but no clutch pedal thus relieving the knee pressure in traffic jam..
Why the car makers not jumping in AMT ?
Is this due to high maintenance or problems with AMT that we do not know ?

Most likely Malaysia will get two variants - 1.3 i-vtec and 1.5 i-vtec, both with 5-speed automatics. this will maximize economies of scale for its Thailand plant, since those models are already being offered there. due to the small volume in Malaysia, i don't think Honda will bring in the i-shift. Of course, the AP holders might do so if the $$ is right...

Are we getting 1.2 or 1.4 version ?
I hope we have both versions, due to fuel hike, I guess many would like the 1.2

Without iDSI and CVT, can this new Jazz match the fuel efficiency of its predecessor?
Both technology were the hallmarks which made Jazz & City the most economical car around for its class.
