Paul Tan on the Automotive Industry
The Kia Forte is the successor to the Kia Spectra sedan. It’s basically a sedan version of the Kia cee’d, with a coupe body expected to come later as well. A rather good looking car, I must say. Kia’s designers have come very far in the past few years, getting better and better with each generation.
Look after the jump for a TV commercial of the Kia Forte showing it eat up a luxury car. Is it supposed to say the Forte is luxurious inside?

this is nice… ceed is a very good looking car… kia done a pretty good job by hooking a rounder butt at the back of it, practicalwise… unlike the bloke in the UK, i think malaysian is a more family oriented type… therefore, they buy car which has the best practicality… KIA FORTE? provided it has a good engine and handling, i think it’s going to sell…
the front part looks like euro civic and it looks good overall. too bad honda still hasnt come out with the new city yet.
by the way, spectra is way too old for the malaysian market… hedious for current market… real out dated…
Forte is the cee’d sedan for North America and General Region (everywhere except Europe and NA).

Kia’s design head is Peter Schreyer, whose resume includes the Audi TT (along with J Mays and Freeman Thomas), VW New Beetle, etc. His job is to oversee the design activities of the company’s regional design centers in Frankfurt, Los Angeles and Tokyo as well as Namyang Design Center in Korea.

Kia’s designs are much better now ever since one of the senior designers from VW came on board. That’s why the Kia’s that are coming on stream now look quite European.
naza kia will lunched new kia carens next month.

I wonder y now days? The Proton still come out with a crap car especially Proton Saga copying anyway and Persona Headlamp just like a piece of junk, and compare with oversea cars far more to go hope that up coming Proton Waja by 2010 dont be like a shit!
As for this Kia it looks good indeed as you see the front is almost look like Civic wondering wat is the price cheaper than the civic.

front is from the uk civic…rear and the rims is from lexus IS….tats y it looks nice
At a glance looks like Mitsubishi Lancer. Hoping by next year will be in Malaysia replacing very2 old Spetra Sedan. People will think twice to buy Pesona if price for Forte reliable.

I’d say Proton is going in the same direction too with the design cues. It’s just that even if Proton don’t employ some Mat Salleh with that kind of resume doesn’t mean they’re not keeping up with the times.
So what the engines are outdated, the exterior design team should ‘cover’ the misgivings with a sleek but practical design for the new Waja.
I just love the bloated front firings and cool shoulder design on this Forte.

anyway, back to the actual topic, this car is really nice, hope to get it in Malaysia, and kick Altis’ ass….
If this model gonna replace the ‘troublesome’ Kia Spectre I used to own, then…DAAAAMN! That’s just so darn cooool…hmm…if KIA decided to sell it as a CBU model, then I might trade in my daily car for it but if NAZA gonna pasang it here…SOOOOOOOOOOORRY…I’ll just pass! Already forgive but NEVER forget…cheers!

Nice looking. Must be better than Spectra. BUT I don’t know about the QC, and does Kia cars last reasonably long problem-free?
copycat of the new lancer gt. it is okay to be influence by other design a little e.g. take the design cue.. but this is too much a copycat….
hyundai/kia never stop tiru other design yet. this is just the same scenario like the ‘jaguar’ look alike they did before.
for sure, i will not be caught dead driving this lancer gt copycat, if its sold here, even if its a good car. originality counts.
