Lexus LS460 AWD to debut at Moscow 2008

Lexus LS460 AWD

Lexus is set to unveil an all-wheel drive version of the Lexus LS460 at the 2008 Moscow International Auto Show. The LS460 AWD will feature the all-wheel drive system that was previously exclusive to the LS600h in the LS range. This all-wheel drive system features a differential for the front axle and another Torsen LSD as a center differential. Default torque split is 40:60 but the system can bump up the rear bias up to 70 percent or front bias to 50:50 if conditions ask for it.

Another bulletproof inovation from Lexus…..Only Audi can match.
BMW & Merc ?????. If add AWD is like adding petrol to fire. More problematic.

    ======================================
AWD technology is expensive and complex. I dont think BMW and Merc want to get involved in a technology fight here. AWD technology is very good if you live in snow country. I cant imagine speeding in a RWD car on a icey highway.
The traction control will have heart attack.

Oh, the germans must be stupid because they buy BMW & Merc and drive around town during snow. Or there’s another reason why, my german teacher told me Deutschland hardly snow in the past years, only very very cold weather.

And who the hell would speed on an icy highway, AWD don’t make you invulnerable to accident. Ask LEXUS shows us what the car can do. Maybe climbing up >45degree icy roads in the winter like Audi QUATTRO did?

I think you missed the point…… which car are u talking about now Audi? Merc & BMW. MERC and BMW is the one without AWD remember…….

What’s Audi climbing 45 degrees got to do with BMW and Merc not implementing AWD in their line up.?

Agreed…. AWD doesn’t make you superman but it help in a tricky situation.

So back to your statement that “Because Merc BMW don’t need an AWD to make their car better”.

So you are saying Audi Quattro is lousy without AWD?.

Let me remind you Audi Has been using the Quattro system for the last 30 years from Rally to road.

They’re not related. BMW & MERC is still the top top luxury manufacturers. Audi is still half step behind them and they have very good QUATTRO.
While Lexus better get worry in the near future Hyundai took over them.

Hyundai plsss… ha ha ha what a joke….. They cant even beat Honda and Toyota. Name one thing Hyundai reknowned for?. None rite. When come to building cars the Korean are just above the Chinese made cars. It is like saying Waja is good as the BMW 3 series…. er the handling maybe……

Anyway facts are facts there is no denying ….Lexus has beaten the german in most of the area.
The only area they are above jap is :
    1) Badge value
    2) Handling.

Other than that German cars are only good as the warranty. After that game over. Dont believe me go to the club and listen to the whining. Oh my 3 month old BMW is giving me heartache….blah blah blah. Or next time there is a heavy rain most likely you will see Merc or BMW broken down.

I seriously would like to thinking German cars are better than jap but when I hear and see German horror story …. you cant help seriously doubting the credentials.

By the way In terms of quality Audi beats BMW and Merc handsdown. This is fact.

Thought of the day : Ask yourselves this “Why is there so many Merc & BMW specialist” ?. Answer : You can make a killing repairing conti cos problems keep comming back like cancer slowly spread.

    Genesis BEAT Lexus GS.
    Edmunds.com

Pls go see the video again. Genesis beat lexus in price but Lexus trashed the Hyungay in all the test. Even with 4.6 v8 vs 3.5 v6. Lexus is quicker. ha ha ha

If you think Hyundai can beat Lexus then where does Germans stand.

Hyundai Better than BMW and Merc???. Sounds absurd rite.

Pls give credit where due. Dont blindly bash Lexus just because it has a Japanese origin. They deserve credit cos they try very hard. I cant say the same for Merc or BMW. Can you ???

They have good cars with very good price, that’s what they’re well known at.
Oh and they beat Honda for the 5th largest automaker.

    That’s your own claimed fact.
Yeah reliability, I blame that to the owner of the car. Everything is manufacture to the same standard and same production line, why others don’t suffer but you do. I drive an E39 and it don’t stall by the roadside, raining.
There’s demand, of course there will be supply. I can make more with a Ferrari workshop, but there’s so little Ferrari on the road.

After a rigorous test on comfort, handling, slaloms, braking, acceleration, interior fittings, quality materials, utilities etc, the Genesis scored higher than the GS. Losing out only on average fuel consumption (understandably for 4.6 V8 VS 3.5 V6), and steering feedback.
    Enough said.

I said Genesis & GS not the car company. Germans stand higher than Lexus & Hyundai so either H beat L or L beat H is alright.

the point is lexus build souless cars which many manufacturers can do too if given a bit of focus.

i think you didn’t listen to what they mention…lexus actually lost in the comparo. mainly overall being not as value for money as the bigger genesis. i.e …you are just paying for the badge.

ok fine ….. you are saying if maintained properly BMW should be as reliable as toyota rite. Well I can agree to that to some extent I find major problem with BMW is electronic modules which tend to give away prematurely.
It is expensive to replace and there are many components in BMW controlled by modules. Anyway if you say if maintained properly then it should be reliable then I will respect that……..

Korean are known for only price advantage full stop….. Quality nope,
Reliability.. nope their engine dont last.

“Helped greatly by its huge price advantage, the Hyundai Genesis edges out the Lexus GS 350 by a cumulative score of 68.5 to 66.3. It just doesn’t get closer than that”. Edmund… so price advantage is the key not the sum of component put together.

BTW if you go to http://www.hyundaigenesis.com/#/performance/

They are pitting against high end BMW like 7 series 750i and 550i and Merc E550…. So should I conclude Hyundai is better?. Looks like Hyundai which is half the price is doing well against the German power house?.
So does this mean overall Hyundai is a better car due to half the price.?.

BTW way King : Can you explain to me what is Soul in terms of Automotive language?.

Agreed with Altezzar. Pls get facts right.. Today Lexus doesnt cheap any more.. Even some people say it's overpriced just like its rival form Germany.Although models sold in US might a bit cheaper than rival, it is just because of US trade incentive of being green engine and their Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) status… In Europe some model only hundreds Pound cheaper..
