About thailand, again you’re changing your argument as you go along. Developed countries had car industries based on competition as many companies started at roughly the same time with the same level of expertise. In the modern world, it is simply not possible to start from scratch and be competitive.

There are heaps of articles out there online about the history of the motoring industry if you are interested. In particular, look at how countries (who missed the intial car boom) develop their own motor industry – there isnt anything really unusual about malaysia.

You are an odd critic… most critics (regarding this i do agree with them actually) will state the need for mass production and lower costs.

Korea epricven banned foreign imports completely for a good 40 years to force hyundai and kia down the throats of its citizens without competition.
