Lexus displayed the Lexus IS 250 Sports Concept at the 2008 Australian International Motor Show. Lexus says this new Sports Concept previews an upcoming version of the IS 250 that could provide younger customers with less deep pockets a taste or preview of what the IS-F could potentially give. This is exactly what BMW is doing with the M-Sport versions of their cars, except about 6 alphabets down the alphabet table.

The kit that was displayed included better cross-drilled two-piece brakes with 6-pots at the front and 4 at the rear, Bilstein shocks, sway bars and a chassis brace for better chassis rigidity, a performance air intake, exhaust, carbon fiber engine cover, front and rear lip spoilers and 19 inch 10-spoke alloy wheels done up in graphite grey.

Manual transmission versions also get a performance clutch with 16% better grip as well as a short shifter kit.

“The introduction of the IS 250 Sports Concept is still in preliminary stages but it’s something we definitely want to investigate. In the meantime, Lexus will concentrate on introducing the IS F performance sedan to the local market. Once we get the hero car into the marketplace, the rest will fall into place,” said Lexus Australia CEO John Roca.

Biggest by selling volume, 2nd by total value of the company, VAG tops here though. It’s not hard to see why Toyota sells so much with their huge collection of 1st world cars like Lexus until the 3rd world cars like Vios, Avanza, Innova and such and so on.

Oh can you imagine the stacked exhaust tip on IS-F is actually not connected to the exhaust, only cosmetic purpose. Goddamn it’s a Lexus, Pursuit for Perfection?

the twin exhaust is better looking than the double decker exhaust found in the is-f, overall they got the back right

the Lexus IS 250 has the BMW 3 Series in its sights, but it still puts comfort above performance. Not as quick or nimble as some of the competition.
    cramped backseat.

bmw fanboys feeling threatened, or lexus fans feeling threatened?

i personally dont see any reason for anyone to be threatened, the 3 series and the is250 are totally different. one is the market leader, the other one is trying to emulate the market leader. i also feel the is250 is a significantly different car as compared to the e90 and seems to attract a totally different type of buyer. if you’ve driven both cars before, you will know what i’m talking about.

Sorry la bro, I beg to differ! We are talking about Lexus here not a Toyota. Toyota maybe the parent company of Lexus but both are totally different company which cater a very different markets. If you tried to implement that Toyota tech is outdated from BMW, maybe you right but it sure hell ain’t Lexus! If the Mercedes S500 car could actually drive the car by itself on the highway, Lexus too have their LS 460L which could actually parked the car itself, brake itself, keeping the whole car in lane during highway cruising, radar control for the car to drive itself, driver scanner and a whole bunch more! As far as I can see, each of them have their own pros and cons. Cheers!

i agree with torque.. not to confuse lexus with toyota. likewise, toyota being world no.1 has nothing to do with lexus as well. they operate in a different environment.

technology wise, there is a definite difference between the 2 brands philosophy. and i’m not putting lexus down by saying this, but lexus is more an implementer whereas bmw is more an innovator when it comes to technology. Its just the way the 2 companies operate differently.

lexus is trying to provide the ultimate customer experience (without reinventing the wheel), whereas bmw has always pushed the boundaries with innovation and cutting edge technology. no wrong or right, just that each has their own ways. lexus has also decided not to fight head to head with bmw(they will probably no succeed), and has carved out their own market.

yes , bmw are innovative in engine technology but toyota have its own success too .you see the vvtl-i engine feature no TB and its world first and the bmw only does this 5 year later which is 2003 when it launch valvetronic ,and surprisingly got many journalist wrote that that engine as the world first no TB engine ,but it is not true at all .Back in 2007 ,toyota and nissan launch their continuous valve lift and vvt .call valvematic and vvel .both technology are actually more advance than bmw valvetronic as it does not continuous doing it (valve lift or smth like that )
but the engine which equip with valvetronic do not need timing belf or chain
,the innovation technology havent being done by any other car maker yet .

  27. Altezzar said,

BMW = innovation and cutting edge technology. Yes I agree but what is the point when the technology is not properly tested. BMW is famous for electrical problem. They know it will fail in the next 2 years but for the sake of calling themselves as innovator they will implement blindly.

End of the day technology must be implemented with certain degree of reliability.

So far BMW has not lived up to the hype. Like I said before BMW is only good as the warranty. Once it is over welcome to the nigthmare……… UDM
Unreliable Disaster Machine should be the motto……

  28. Altezzar said,

One more point BMW fanboys will always make excuses saying that BMW is unreliable cos the owner dont take care…….. if that is the case you should see Toyota breaking down everywhere cos Toyota owner dont really maintain their car either !!!!!!.
Toyota is known for reliability so people dont really maintain them.

End of the day BMW flaw is reliability and durability is questionable.
I not saying lexus is the best car in the world and it has some flaws too…
it is just that BMW fan boys are very ignorant about other brand and only think BMW is the best and choose to ignore it flaws. They talk without facts and other brand are not good as a BMW and they will never give credit where due…. narrow minded fools…… I will see you at side of the road with your BMW with hazard signal….
