Diesel engine is getting better! But I do hope they can find a way to reduce the diesel engine noise i.e. the diesel "clatter". That is the main thing that is turning a lot of people off diesel engine - sounds like lorry! If they can signigicantly reduce the diesel clatter noise, then I bet many people would go for diesel engine, especially now since our diesel quality is slightly better (Euro 2M compliant).

charles27, are you referring to a comparison with petrol engines? or just other diesel engines.
Compare with petrol, diesel will never have the quick response like a petrol coz the way diesel works.

however, compare to other diesels. This engine is quite impressive. lots of power, as much torque as a WRX. And minimal lag, due to the variable vane turbo.

I'm impressed.

just a figure nice maa... put on the road time.. then see how the engine perform.
although the NM is big and the engine feel like muscular... bet the response time is very bad for diesel ingine in overall.

impressive figures... especially the 2.2 unit

wonder if they would fit it in a C segment car like the elantra or accent.. then that would really be interesting

...The 2.0 liter unit produces 184 PS and 392Nm of torque while the 2.2 liter unit produces 200 PS and 436Nm of torque...

That's very strong. I'm impressed
