2009 Skoda Octavia facelift gets 1.4 TSI engine

Skoda Octavia

Skoda has given the C-segment Skoda Octavia liftback (aeroback) and estate a facelift for the 2009 model year. The front end receives a more dynamic look (e.g. new Fabia-ish more shapely headlamps) instead of the straight-cut look that the pre-facelift Octavia had.

The 1.6 FSI model will be replaced by a new 1.4 TSI turbocharged engine producing 122 horsepower, which is more than the outgoing FSI’s 115 horses. The star of the line-up will be the Octavia vRS which will feature a 200hp turbo FSI engine mated to a twin clutch DSG transmission.

Three more shots of the new Octavia available after the jump.

i actually did look at the dash and couldn’t see…. until my eyes hovered over the… haha, i’ll let the other guys find it and won’t spoil the fun. but it is cute. i wonder what the rear tail lights look like. side profile has a modern utilitarian feel which is what i see the brand as anyway… imho.

Somehow the headlamp resemble T camry + a lil touch of BMW’s 3 series + Proton Waja. maybe it just me. internal looks nice btw, and cant compared to our beloved Saga lol. and yes, i can see the smiley face. the meter resemble the eyes, nose and smile from the steering ^_^

I believe it should follow the pricing of the current Octavia, which is quite reasonably-priced for it’s quality… seriously, sitting in one for a try makes you feel so at home =)

Skoda has 3 mainly distinct features that is in all their cars (signature Skoda) and the 4th is implemented as well.

    1. The smile face on the steering wheel

    2. The face (grill) that is unmistakingly Skoda

    3. The C shaped rear lights at night. Large, easy on the eyes and very nice

    4. The signature car model name on the front headlights

I am half egyptian so I know the mentality of "nothing compares to the BMW or other brands". I guess I cannot blame you guys for dishing this car as few if no one drove one. But I can tell you with all do respects (and we own a proton back home) that the quality, built, reliability are TOP and EASilY compared to the top brands in the industry…

Skoda has a factory in China, Russia and India to produce more for local markets including Australia. Their European factories (in the Czech Republic) produce for Europe and the near east.

Try Youtube and there is an array of tests on the Octavia and now the new Superb (the largest in the section) as well as the Yeti (the 4×4).. you will see that nowadays no one looks at the Skoda with a snub,.. actually its not possible. Skodas is a very subtle design that invokes reliability…

when it comes to the Proton then sadly and with all do respect… the quality is not that good and looking at a Skoda or a Proton after 10 years of use = a very very visible difference.
