Ford Ranger Max Concept exhibited at the Thailand Motor Expo 2008

Ford Ranger Max Concept

Ford says this Ford Ranger Max concept truck that’s being exhibited at the 2008 Thailand International Motor Expo explores future design possibilities for the Ranger, and the underlying meaning could actually be to look forward to a facelifted Ford Ranger that looks like this, which is actually less truck-ish and more Hilux-ish.

Apparently the design theme here is a power tool, think power drills, saws, the whole works. These tools usually have little lettering to label each button and dial and so does this concept. Even the grab handle in the side of the sportsbar has the lettering GRAB on it. The side door is labelled AXCESS, and the fuel inlet is labeled FUEL.

The bed is covered by a remote-controlled powered tonneau cover to protect and hide your cargo. Those large wheels are 18 inchers and have a deep-dish design and are wrapped with 285/60R18 tyres.

Look after the jump for a full photo gallery and a video of the concept.

Wow… looks great! Loving the wheel arches and the cover… and the labeling idea. Wonder how much will make it into the production facelift =)

damn, this truck design is damn same with the hilux….is the ford engineer n designer dried out of idea?…..i think there is nothing special about this car accept the nice fog lamp!..btw, “THAILAND motor expo”? i think the ford company should change the design theme from those power tools to safety from the bullets & stones or anti-Somchai….that may make the car become more laris…i think…lol…

nice design. Here don’t have that cause why do you need something so big and uses a lot of fuel. Parking spaces in town are small anyway

Well, first of all, if not because I read the title properly, I would have thought it was a Hilux facelift article !

Overall, any improvement for a ranger is always welcome. This sounds and looks like one. I hope the designer remember to add more cabin space and comfortable seats for the rear this time while there is still time in their drawing board.

Btw, to Mr. Mystvearn, Commonrail Diesel truck consumes less than a Civic despite its size and power. If properly driven, it can sip like a kancil.
