This AE86 isn’t overhype.
the basic one might be overhype.. but…
since this AE86 got sooooo many upgrades part,
from suspension, engine etc etc etc…
it wont be overhype yet.

btw.. the famous one initial-d AE86 is not a basic ae86,
it’s Sprinter Trueno GT APEX AE86.

The simple comparison just like..
Satria = boring car..
Satria R3 / Satria Gti = superb car.

now im asking..
Why not Perodua rebadge this? lol!

woah, another delay. looks like the only one still going on with its project is Nissan. which is pretty inaccurate since their GTR already out and there ain't any other prototype except those electric vehicles.

Toyota must be in somewhat of a panic after they publish their first financial loss ever! One of the oldest and biggest company in modern Japan had been flawless until now. To me that is mighty impressive.

Once they are comfy and making lots of profit, they will start to roll out the AE86 successor... then Celica, MR2, and even the Supra. However, I think all you can buy now is the Corolla.

What's with the R35 grille? ;)

Anyways, it's best to keep on the legacy of AE86.

Great car the AE86!! Tengku Djan used it to beat Vaughn Gittin Jr with his 650 hp Mustang during D1 World All Star 2006, Irwindale USA. Tsuchiya used it too on Gunsai Touge beating the R34 GTR. What can I say...it's one heck of a car!!! Pity that all we have to do now is wait...wait....wait for the AE 86, Celica, Supra/LFA, NSX....wait some more...wait and wait...

ae86 is an overhype in my opinion .
meanwhile , it is so famous becasue it is cheap to be modified and own in japan . handling wise , i think toyota has to keep it light, that is the key of good handlign .

actually they should continue both the AE86 and Supra as they're great cars with even greater reputations to build upon. with movies like fast n furious and initial d exciting the very young readers of this blog, there is going to be a steady stream of fans. but, i guess we will have to wait till the current world financial situation blows over before seeing anything concrete over the horizon.

finally the japanese have come to their senses that it is not financially viable to do a brand new model every 3 or 4 years. finally the european model on product development makes some sense. this is where we will see whether the design of the current japanese models can withstand the test of time or not.

The Economy?

Well we haven't seen the worst of it yet.

This is indeed very worrying. WIth private corporations and consumers tightening the belt and governments broke, It could get a lot worst before it gets better.

lets just hope that the governments of the world manages to use fiscal policy to re-stimulate the economy.

I'm not surprised that Toyota is cutting back. They are dealing with a massive reduction in demand.

The brand is considered the captain of the motor industry, and is the Guru of all text books on just about A-Z of efficient in production etc..So, the question here is, why is there a sudden jolt and stoppages on all its programs? Yes, the economic situation is under the weather currently, but is it so great a turmoil all over the world that the great Toyota who preaches great heights of efficient in production and management should be able to ride out the economic doldrums..no? Probably, it is only a perception that the brand is efficient in production and effectiveness. Maybe it could churns out more books about its efficiency, and make that as another income arm of the company.
